- Maynard - 06-26-2002 Why is it that they always have 5 guys standing around with their shovels in their hand not doing anything on the side of the road? EVERYONE who's a driver sees this right? So why don't we all complain? I mean, they close down a highway in rush hour traffic to one lane and then when you get up to the construction part, there's only 1 guy working. Isn't there ANYTHING that we can do about it? I have a friend who's a civil engineer in PA (he design's roads and bridges) and he said that when the engineers go to the site to inspect the progress, they flip when they see that shit and write the guys up. But I guess it doesn't happen often enough, becuase I still see that bullshit every day!!! I say we rise up and take the streets back!! - Ken'sPen - 06-26-2002 Maynard, how many crappy threads are you going to start today to reach your quota? - Maynard - 06-26-2002 Shut up you fucking retard. I haven't really started many threads in the Pit in weeks. Instead, I've been responding to the useless bullshit you start. Now I start something that's a real problem here, and you try and be funny? Didn't work imbecile. - Hey Ladi - 06-26-2002 Unions - Maynard - 06-26-2002 I understand unions, but how can they just let them not work? Wouldn't you think that people would get pissed off and complain to the town's and they wouldnt rehire the construction company again? That just doesn't make sense on their parts. - Silera - 06-26-2002 Quote:Unions They even get paid to picket jobsites that don't use union workers that actually work because they have incentive. - Arthur Dent - 06-26-2002 You can thank the unions. No seriously, thank them for keeping the unemployement rate down. The union bosses calculate how much total work they have and spread it out and stretch it a much as possible to make sure all their members are as employed as possible. Right down to dictating how many feet of pipe gets laid each day or how many square feet of asphalt gets poured. And the contractors and managers can't do much about it, because if they complain too hard, the union will just walk off the job. And if you try to bring in non-union labor, your in for a world of shit. - Hey Ladi - 06-26-2002 When we do nothing it's harder to notice. They are just standing out in the open. - Maynard - 06-26-2002 OK Arthur, that's just great. I'm all for keeping people employeed, but why not pay them minimum wage then? Why do we have to pay so fucking much for 100 ft of road if they are going to do that? - barch97 - 06-26-2002 It's too bad they don't have computers out there with them. Then they could respond here and maybe defend themselves. - Sephiroth - 06-26-2002 They have been working on the overpass near my house for 2 years now. 2. fucking. years. I've seen entire buildings go up in that much time. - OAS - 06-26-2002 I hate fucking unions. If you are in one, your an idiot. No offense intendended to anyone here that's in a union, it's just idiotic. The unions do nothing for you. Nothing!. You will find most reputable non-union companies take better care of their employees than unions. I understand some unions like in the entertainment industry you have no choice. If you don't belong, you can't work. I feel sorry for you. That is so non-American it makes me sick. OK all you union people, rip me a new one. I don't care. I still think your'e pissing your union dues away. Edited By OAS on June 26 2002 at 11:59 - Maynard - 06-26-2002 I've never belonged to a union, but from what I understand, there's certain lines of work, where you will get work MUCH easier and more plentiful by joining the union. A lot of places only hire union workers because everyone greases everyone elses palms. So that part of it is just not going to change. Goes back as far as this country had business. We can thank the Mafia for that one. - fbd - 06-26-2002 Quote:You will find most reputable non-union companies take better care of their employees than non-union.what? - barch97 - 06-26-2002 Quote:You will find most reputable non-union companies take better care of their employees than non-union.what? *Edit: I'm going outside to capture and torture a frog. Edited By barch97 on June 26 2002 at 12:00 - Hey Ladi - 06-26-2002 Unions were a nice idea in the beginning, but now there are plenty of laws to keep for from being fired if you get hurt or whatever. In the beggining, if a machine took your arm..... fuck you, you're fired if you can't do a day's work :poke: - Maynard - 06-26-2002 HE MADE A FUCKING MISTAKE!!! Are you that dumb you didn't know what he was saying? Quote:You will find most reputable non-union companies take better care of their employees than non-union.He was saying the non-union companies take better care of them than the union ones do. - fbd - 06-26-2002 thank you for clearing that up, maymay :thumbs-up: - barch97 - 06-26-2002 You talking to me? or him? - Maynard - 06-26-2002 Both of you retards. |
