Turns out that in 2001, he was attacked by a shark in the Bahamas and lost his leg. It's was a pretty bad ass story. He was wading in very shallow water and the thing grabbed his leg and dragged him into deeper water. Then it started to shake him around. The guy remembers everything, including the sounds and smells. He punched his leg and then stuck his hands in its mouth to free himself (and now his hands are all mangled too). The he had to swim with one leg, and then hop on the beach. The end. - Gooch - 03-26-2007 Yup...i recall that summer. That was a summer of a huge rash of shark attacks, including that kid: Jessie Arbogast in Florida. Then later that summer, another kid had his leg pulled off...dead in VA. Two more in NC. I am always fascinated by that stuff. There was a banker with a funky name who lost his leg on his 10th anniversary when he was there with his wife. He had an odd name...first name: Krishner??? Is that the guy??? EDIT:http://archives.cnn.com/2001/US/08/17/shark.attack.2nd/index.html Krishna was his name. Krishna Thompson. I was close. - Galt - 03-26-2007 Yes, that's the guy. He was either stupid then, or he got brain damage from losing so much blood and flatlining multiple times. And there wasn't a "rash" of attacks. That was (like the impending climate change apocolypse) another story created by the media. They kept doing stories about it that summer because there was nothing else going on in the planet, they get ratings when they frighten people, people are stupid and fall for it EVERY FUCKING TIME and everyone thought "oooooh, it's an epidemic!!!!" Shark attacks were no greater (and I think were actually lower) that year than previous years. - Gooch - 03-26-2007 true...the rash of attacks was more like media frenzy b/c of a bunch of deaths only weeks from one another. one story would die, then the next one would start...the deaths from VA, Bahamas, NC and Florida became hot topics. - fbd - 03-27-2007 plus, there was just nothing else for the news channels to talk about. it was a really slow summer for news...nothing happened. unfortunately, that changed in september...but there was just nothing else for them to do except hype up shark attacks - funsnapsdyno - 03-27-2007 fbd Wrote:plus, there was just nothing else for the news channels to talk about. it was a really slow summer for news...nothing happened. unfortunately, that changed in september...but there was just nothing else for them to do except hype up shark attacks that's basically what Galt just said. - Galt - 03-27-2007 He must have me on ignore. - The Jays - 03-29-2007 Wow, this thread makes no sense with Galt on ignore. - Galt - 05-02-2007 Hottest girl on the planet - Keyser Soze - 05-03-2007 who is she? - Goatweed - 05-03-2007 Megan Fox - Keyser Soze - 05-03-2007 tasty |
