- Sean Cold - 05-06-2002 Quote:I'm surprised nobody's mentioned this, but Saving Private Ryan anyone? That was shitty to say the least. I mean, who actually enjoys watching an old man walking with his family through a cemetary anyway? Ok, fine, when he falls to his knees crying was pretty emotional but, come on, the guy was fuckin old! - Maynard - 05-06-2002 Quote:I mean, who actually enjoys watching an old man walking with his family through a cemetary anyway? I was actually going to say Private Ryan the other day, but then I thought about the very beginning of the movie and realized that the invasion wasn't the beginning of the movie. I would have to say though that yes it is one of the greatest sequences ever though. - Galt - 05-06-2002 The beginning of the Lost Boys was sweet just because that opening song ruled. Other opening scenes.... Happiness, with Jon Lovitz and that psycho broad at the restaurant. She brakes up with him, and he flips out on her. Rounders. "Here's the thing, if you don't spot the sucker in your first 30 miutes at the table, you are the sucker" Momento. I went into the movie not having any idea what it was about. It freaked me out Magnolia with all the urban legends/strange coincidences. - Maynard - 05-06-2002 I also liked the beginning of Pulp Fiction. The diner scene. And then the music hits you with the Title. I loved that shit. - Spitfire - 05-06-2002 opening scene of Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back...baby J & SB, leading off to this: Quote:Fuck The first scene in Touch of Evil, one long continuous-action shot, taken by crane for over 3 minutes, following the car...which Soderburgh tried to recreate in Traffic - IkeaBoy - 05-06-2002 Nice call on Touch of Evil spitfire. Another uncut opening- Altman's The Player . A couple more to add- diner opening of Pulp Fiction. "Rosebud" in Kane Edited By IkeaBoy on May 06 2002 at 3:01 - Banana_juice - 05-06-2002 i am not sure this was the opening scene, but it migh have been. in "HEAT". when they hold up the armored car, i love that scene.. - GonzoStyle - 05-07-2002 I thought of a few more. Nice call on pulp fiction, but one even better is Resevoir Dogs. Same type of scene with the "Like a Virgin" debate at the table and then the debate on tipping then "little green bag" hits. The opening scene to Amadeus is another classic. With Salieri attempting suicide and then Mozarts Violin concerto plays as he is being wheeled away. |
