Quote:well, the other day a middle eastern/arab type guy was in the bar and asked if he could leave a bag of stuff for an hour or so while he went and did something.

"I don't want to go off on a rant here, but..."

I feel for the middle-eastern people these days. So many of them have nothing to do with any type of terrorism. Let alone on the grand scale of the suicide bombings and banzai plane hijackings.

The type of discrimination that they have to deal with these days it probably 100x worse than anything I've ever had to deal with. I mean, at worst, white women think I'm gonna steal their purse. I hardly think anyone ever thought I was gonna blow up a building.

Now, I'm not saying you should go out and make friends with the next pakistani motherfucker you see. But, cut them a little slack. Most of them are bustin' their asses so they can capitalize on our stupid ass governmetn. They don't want to blow up the country. It's hard to tell the terrorists apart from normal people because they do their best to fit in. Don't hate on all the middle easterners for that, though.

Hate them because they stink, and they are nosy and like to stare at people, but don't hate them because of where they are from or because they resemble bin laden.

The racism affecting these people is no different from any other form of racism.

ERACISM - Hug a cab driver. :-p

racism permeates this country because it's true. Deal with it.

No. You're stupid. Do you really think they're going to blow up their own plane? That's probably the safest airline you can fly.

Just got this from CNN in my email....

Quote:-- Citing an "abundance of caution," FBI alerts NYC authorities to be ready for possible terror attacks against landmarks, sources tell CNN.
Watch CNN or log on to http://CNN.com /AOL Keyword: CNN for the latest news.

I just hope this is just some more of them covering their asses.

- Skitchr4u - 05-21-2002

I got the same e-mail...damn you polly, beating me. I think it is just being overly cautious, but it is goodto see they are telling us this time

- PollyannaFlower46 - 05-21-2002

Yea...I'm not worried at all...I mean what am I three blocks away from the NYSE?

what disturbs me most is walking thru Penn Station. This huge crowded area during the 9-5 rush has to be a logistical nightmare to try to protect, god forbid something does happen. One of the most disturbing things I've read about is how the Anthrax scare, though skewed by FBI sources to be a domestic issue, may well be a outside terrorist activity after all. There was a article about it in the Weekly Standard, by Geroge Will about it. Though Georgy is a staunch republican, and a prick on TV, his article is well-done and very disturbing.

As much as I don't see George Will's political viewpoint, I have always respected his journalistic brilliance. Is there a web based version of his article?

- PollyannaFlower46 - 05-22-2002

Does anyone know if they sleep on the ships during Fleet week? I'm having bad thoughts.

Quote:Does anyone know if they sleep on the ships during Fleet week? I'm having bad thoughts.
Why? The fleets in town and you may not find a sailor or two? Soldiers do it better anyways. :-D

- PollyannaFlower46 - 05-22-2002

No...not bad thoughts as in oooh sailors for me to fuck...bad thoughts as in eerie thoughts.

- OAS - 05-22-2002

They will not be successful in any attack on the fleet. They want to and will target civilians.

ran in the weekly standard, and was reprinted in the post a week or two ago...buit i can't find it online anywhere. if i see it, i'll plug it in this thread.

Honest question which do you thinkw ould be a more likely target of the two mentioned- the Statue of Liberty or Brooklyn Bridge?

Isnt that when you hate someone over the internet because they are black?

- AdolescentMasturbator - 05-23-2002

Ikea, I think the Statue of Liberty is a way better symbolic target but if they wanted to just make people's lives hell they would attack the Brooklyn Bridge. The Bridge seems like better fear target because the Statue of Liberty is just a big statue(i know understatement). The Brooklyn Bridge is something that people take everyday on their way to work or school. It would create fear much more imo.

- IkeaBoy - 05-23-2002

That's what I think too AM. I mean yes it's a big statue and symbolic but brooklyn bridge going down will probably kill a lot more people and cause a lot more damage in the long run.
