i'll be honest with you. i have both systems and the XBOX does seem to be a much better assembled product. sony just seems to churn them out in order to supply the demand but hey, i'm hooked.
as for the XBOX, granted it is a more powerful system but you have to purchase the DVD playback peripheral, you can just take it out of the box and watch a DVD on it without having purchased the DVD thingamabobber.
i know that some people swear by the XBOX but right now mine is collecting dust.

i have xbox and though right now the game library isnt to great if you go to ign or gamespot and check out the games that are in the near future you will run to buy one now.

i've had multiple disc read errors too. it started just on newer movies and now it'll only play a few of our games. not even ps1 games work. i figure it's probably that lens slipping issue. the other day someone told me that there was a defect in the first batch that was sent out, so if you got it when it first came out, that's probably the problem. he said it happened to his and he took it to the sony store on 53rd and madison and they fixed/replaced it for him. i shall be paying them a visit myself as soon as i get some spare time.
