That and you don't give a shit about others...not much of a surprise there. Some kid buys his/her first car....a car just off lease because it is more affordable...and it blows up on them within a few months because some jack-off decides that a $25,000 car is a throw away "because I'm not gonna buy it anyway." Nice.....especially since you'll be leaving the bill for the dealership now to fix said car......a dealership where "your buddy" works. Keep doing that and I wonder how long they'll remain your "buddy". If that is my kid who just got fucked on that deal.......the dealership's management would be less than happy to see me.

I bought my first car based on reliability, dependability, and affordability at the time. Not because I really wanted a safe 4 cylinder family car.

Now, I want to get a car that is:
A) LOWER monthly payment.
B) Six cylinder engine with some serious horse power.
C) Fully loaded.

I figure it will take me six months of research, visiting dealers, etc. before I find the right car and deal.

But, at least it gave everybody something to talk about.:thumbs-up:

Just like that "I might not be the father so fuck that woman and her kid." That "fuck'em" attitude is what is ripping this country apart.

But, what works for you because of your attitude and connections is not the smartest choice for other people. Because of you connections, leasing ends up being a good option, but for others (not you), leasing is probably not a good idea. And yes, I am a boring guy. My current efforts are focused on building a driveway and other domestic tasks. I have no need to be cool and hip.

The dealership won't pay to fix the car. It will be covered under an after market warranty. The dealer doesn't give a shit either. I wouldn't do the same thing as Kid. But it pains me to say, Kid has no obligation as to the condition the car is resold at. Buyer beware.

Kid, what dealership did your Dad have?

OAS....your point kills me. I take care of whatever car I'm driving, and have actually come across people that have bought my old cars. One of them actually thanked me for taking such good care of it while I owned it. Perhaps I'm the exception, but that did make me feel pretty good :thumbs-up:

I don't disagree with you Metal, and when I buy from a private seller, I try to read what type of person they are and did they take care of the vehicle. I would never be an ass like Kid, in anything I did, but what I said was HE has no obligation as to the condition of the car when it is resold.

Think about what else Kid said. He couldn't be such a boring person as to drive the same car for 10 years. How many people do you approach as being interesting based on the fact that they drive different cars all the time? Rolleyes Consider the source.

I never said I'd go after him, or the prior owner. The dealership has some obligation unless the sale is strictly "As-Is"...therefore, I go after them and curse out the asshole who owned the car before me.

Before I had kids, I used to get a new car every 3 years...it was nice to be able to do that. I owned the car I just traded in for 6 years, and plan on keeping my current one until it dies.....my how times change :disappointed:

By that theology, I should vacuum my cubicle everyday, because it belongs to me while I work here. Look man, I'm sorry you can't grasp the concept of it not belonging to me. It's kind of like the computer that I'm on, it belongs to my company. I'm not going to go out and buy the latest memory and the newest video card for it, because it's not mine. I'm going to use it as is, and give it back when I'm done, regardless of its condition.

My attitude? I'm not driving a corvette, it's a fucking escape. I needed a reliable vehicle that was roomy and good on gas. buying used wasn't an option and I didn't have enough money for a down payment on to purchase a new car (not that I would have anyway).

so, I'm sorry that I think it's boring to drive the same fucking car for 10 years. I don't use my car to impress people, I just enjoy driving. And, for me, it's more enjoyable to not drive the same god damned car year after year after year.

if I was like you fuckers, I'd still be driving a '93 escort wagon, and I would never have had my cadillac w/ hydraulics, or my integra w/ performance add-ons.

Dude, I grasp the concept of it not belonging to you. Perhaps its your total disregard for other people that amazes me. Now, taking your counterpoint should lead me to the conclusion that your cubicle at work should be quarantined/condemned....you decide. Because hey....what the fuck, it isn't yours and who gives a shit about the people who have the misfortune of working in close proximity to your own private dump, right? Let me share a story about a girl I know. She leased a pontiac for 3 years. at the end of the lease she spent two days cleaning the thing and removing the window tint and the alarm and shit. When she turned the car in, the dealer barely looked at the thing when he took the odometer reading.

If you buy a car off lease and have a problem with it, that's not my problem. You should've checked the car out better.

I'll share another story... I once had an '87 S-10 pickup. It was lowered and had a system in it and the whole 9. Well, long story short, my friend had a Suzuki Samaraui that I thought was pretty cool, and he liked my S-10. So, we decided to trade outright. Well, 3 weeks later the water pump went on the S-10 and he seized the engine because he kept driving when the truck overheated. Is this my problem? I think not. I had the Samaraui checked out by a mechanic and it was fine, so I was happy to make the trade.

I agree that the water pump going is unforeseen and your friend being an idiot driving after the fact is not your problem, nor your fault. However, you are conscious of what you're doing to the Escape and are just gonna shrug it off and walk away. That's your style, not mine.

Oh, and I've had relatives get nailed for fucking parking lot dings when they've turned their cars in at the end of a lease, so dealerships run the spectrum as well.

Whatever happened to an automobile being a form of transportation? No, it has to be chopped, modded, tinted, etc.... I feel that it's those who don't have money have to flash the money that they do have....

My truck doesn't even have power windows....

My escape is a 5-speed, 4-cyl, 2wd. It has tinted windows, and a system (a box and amp out of my sister's old car).

I've pretty much run the gamut of customizing cars, but always did the work myself or with my friends. See, I enjoy cars, unlike sloatsfuck over here.

OAS, it was rolling on Trus, but no curbfeelers. and, I didn't have the diamond in the back, nor the tv antenna on the trunk.

One of my greatest joys while driving is to see some suped up rice burner get it's doors blown off by mustang, camaro, or especially a simple chevy with a big engine.
