- Teenweek - 11-01-2002 I tried soulseek and even though it is slow and i hate that qued time bullshit, it still was perfect for every song that I needed and had no loops. IRC and newsgroups scare me. They seem a little hard to figre out. - PeterDragon - 11-01-2002 Quote:newsgroups and irc are the best 2 programs to download new albums with Newsgroups (which I have often pushed) are best for quality in not just music, but warez (and to a lesser degree vcd's). You also aren't limited by the speed of the other person's connection. The problem is you have to ask for what you want if it isn't there, and not all ISP's have the same quality news servers. What I've found about direct connect is while it is better than kazaa, etc. you still don't always know what the quality is. For newsgroups, go to alt.cd.image and look for the files called "A Newsgroup toolkit" or something like that. It has all sorts of proggies, etc. Oh, by the way, you can't use newsbinPro, or any other news reader with AOL; you are limited to their crappy reader. And they don't have warez on their news servers, but they do have porno & music binaries. do an aol search for usenet. it will take you to aol's newsreader. do the setup, and make sure you take off any parental control. you must do an advanced "add group". some music groups are: alt.binaries.sounds.mp3.xxxxs (where xxxx is a decade - like alt.binaries.sounds.mp3.2000s). then you have to wade through the crap; however aol will automatically decode most of the files. If you don't have to use aol, you can use newsbinpro as whackbag suggested for binaries only, or agent for binaries and regular messages. let me know if you need more help there.
