Using IRC is tricky at first but it's easy to get the hang of. To search for a certain movie go to My Downloader type in the name of the movie and click search (of course it's always a good idea to check VCDquality.com to see if the movie is out yet and to see if the current cam or telesync of the movie is even worth downloading. Anyway, that site will show you a bunch of different IRC channels where you can get the movie, click on it and it will open IRC for you and connect to the channel. Then all you have to do is for the bot to list the movies, highlight the /send ..... command, paste it, chance the x at the end to the number of the file and then click send. You will either start downloading the movie or be put on the waiting list if there are already a bunch of people downloading it.

As usual, I'm late.
IRC spy is good; another site is Packetnews
there are lots of usenet sites. alt.binaries.vcd, a.b.svcd., etc. you can do a search in newsbin for groups with vcd.
Also popular now is xvids, but the codec is tricky.
Another popular current download method seems to be torrents

I ended up using Kazaalite as goat suggested. Saw it this weekend. I got burned before I found this where I missed 20 minutes of a movie.

The greatest invention for usenet is the par files.
(the ones with the .p01 etc extentions)
they can replace any missing rar file, and has made filling much easier

this is a links page: Smilers link page
which has links to faq's, an alternative bittorent prog (which lets you regulate speed), links to Yahoo and irc group, and links to some web sites.
Sites with TV, anime, and some indy music tend to stay; sites with movie links move, so it helps if you stop in at irc or the yahoo group.
When I get home, I'll see if I have any current sites.
Note: Bittorent files reserve HD space before getting the actual files, and the way it works is that files circulate - while you download, you are also uploading it to someone else. therefore it is possible that if you have an old bittorent file, you might not have anyone currently uploading it, and you may not get what you think you have.

How do you get the file from those sites. I click on the file and I get windows cannot open it or website not found. I don't understand these sites. With a baby and not being able to go to the movies I really want to learn. I like kazaa for it's easiness for movies that have been out over a week. However it sucks that the new releases are bullshit and I still dont understand how to use these other sites. And whackbag I tried going on newsbin but I forgot my server for my verizon online.
