Wait, you can de-regionalize a PS2? Does that work for games too?

There's a game that just came out in the U.K. called Wipeout:Fusion for PS2. It's a sequel to Wipeout for PS1. A friend went to the store in the U.S. looking for it and it's not for sale in the U.S. and noone knew anything about it.

DVD Region X is a bootdisc that will bypass it if it is a movie. However for games a mod chip is required.

Nice!

And I'm still waiting for a no-sodder plug-and-play mod chip for PS2. They had one for PS1, but it took a long time to develop. The closest I've found for PS2 required one wire be soddered to the USB port and the chip gets plugged into the USB port.

if you bothered to look at the website that i told you to check out you'd have seen that the no solder chip for the ps2 is out. once again it is http://www.lik-sang.com

Sorry LZMF1, but my companies firewall blocks that site under the catagory "games". And since I'm out of the country, my only other option is to shell out a £1 at the local cyber cafe. The place sucks because they have VERY stringent policies on viewing sites with "offensive" material. After all, it's a "family" environment. :disappointed:

But, I did e-mail myself the link to check later. Much later.

No solder mod is only for certain model types. However I have heard of no-solder ones that will be universal coming out this month cheap. Not sure exactly when.

really!!!

i had the sbox usb chip and it was great 'til my ps2 died. i have a new ps2 and iwas kinda waiting around for a universal no solder mod.

once it does come out i'll be able to play all of the games that i've downloaded and burned.

Virtua Fighter 4 is realy good and i'm in the process of downloading Tekken 4!!

could you post a link for the universal no solder chips?

- AdolescentMasturbator - 03-13-2002

Here the lusider-mod is supposedly supposed to work on all ps2s with no soldering and will work great. However I'm not sure if they are bullshitting on this or not. They say it will be ready by the 25th but that is always subject to change.

- LZMF1 - 03-13-2002

you rock!!!

thanks

- LZMF1 - 03-17-2002

i've heard that dvd-rws need to be formatted before being used. is there any truth to this?

- AdolescentMasturbator - 03-17-2002

I've never heard of that but it's probably done at the factory.

In related ps2 modding news I have just decided to purchase a Messiah. It's about a 100 bucks but it's so worth it. It can direct boot everything. No need for Gameshark. I'm cumming just thinkin about it.

wow, i thought that sony fucked up that deal and made the producers of the messiah chip stop production.

it's worth a bill

Sony did make them stop production but right before they got shut down they gave away the blueprints so you have a whole bunch of chips that do the same thing. I'm still trying to figure out the best deal since I found 5 different places for it.

- LZMF1 - 03-18-2002

like i told arthur dent, lik-sang is reasonable and reliable but i'm not sure if they carry the messiah chip.

did you get virtua fighter 4 yet????

this game kicks ass!!!!!
i'm in the process of d/l tekken 4.

i'm psyched.

- AdolescentMasturbator - 03-18-2002

Lik-Sang doesn't have the Messiah they have it out of stock. But I'm in the process of getting it from other reputable places. They do have the Neo which is decent but it's no Messiah.

I have VF4 still have to get Tekken 4.

- LZMF1 - 03-18-2002

we may have to do some trading.

this may work out well for the both of us.

- AdolescentMasturbator - 03-18-2002

Yeah I could use Tekken 4. Hmm I'll pm you with some info on the Messiah as well. I know you had your heart set on a no-solder mod but you should seriously consider an M clone.

- LZMF1 - 03-18-2002

whichever one is best.

i know the ps2 inside and out. lord knows, i've opened up and modded enough of them.

i found tekken 4 on direct connect. it wasn't in .rars. it was a .bin and a .cue file and the person who has it has a slow assed connection. it's quite frustrating

If you feel like installing the Messiah yourself that's great. But you have to be good at soldering. Some of the points are .2 mm away from each other.

If you want I know a guy that can do it professionaly for 40 and will return to you asap.

As for Tekken 4 I'll just wait till it gets posted on newsgroups(or get's reposted haven't checked ps2 newsgroups in a while).

- LZMF1 - 03-18-2002

yeah, that's right. the messiah chip has like 40-something solder points. that's a bit much for me.

if you do get tekken 4, please let me know.
