Acctually we buy it because we want a clearer picture, better sound, and cool extras. If it just came with the original Scarface it would be awesome, but they really went all out.

It's going to sell like crazy, I pre-ordered it today and the guy told me they already have 150 on hold.

I see what he is talking about though. You can constantly expand on the same product and force people into buying something they already have just cause this version is cooler. This happened with a label recently where they put out a limited edition version of a Blood Brothers LP a few months after they pressed the original version. Most people who already bought the original would want the new cooler more limited one now and essentially buy the same thing twice. The whole "special edition" phenomenon can go overboard at times.

It can with most but this was worth it. For me it was because it also comes with the original Paul Muni version which I woulda gladly bought seperatly, which woulda run about 20 bucks alone. Plus the Pacino Scarface, add into the the nice packaging and the lobby cards, clip. It's worth the 45 bucks.

Naturally I am speaking as a great fan of the film, while I may have other favs I have not seen any movie more times than I have scarface.

Now what is a rip off are the LoTR "extended versions", why not just release the extended version right away instead of 2 months afterwards? Simple, people will most likely buy both versions. I can understand re-releasing titles that were released early on with no features, a good example was Se7en.

But the LoTR is just a blatent rip off of the consumer.
