I am not sure but I know it was while the fans were on the field, thats why merkle didnt touch the base. He saw the fans rush the field and just ran for the dugout to avoid the riots on the field. So the guy noticed merkle didnt touch the base and started looking for the ball, I doubt it was hours but I am not 100% sure. I doubt Merkle stood around the dugout for hours though.

Shit happens. If a pitcher, let alone a team, can't overcome, they deserve to lose. Fine, the fan was a factor, but only because the Cubs made it a factor. A real team would have sucked it up, moved on. Teams that get rattled don't deserve to win.

I looked at the fan the same way I looked at the call that lost Tampa the game against the colts. They shouldn't have been in that situation anyway. The Colts came back on them...they deserved to lose...the Cubs let the fan rattle them...they didn't deserve to win...
