What's scary now is that the talk is that they didn't really care about him being the batting coach. The real reason was that they basically took him in to be Torres replacement.
Basically willie randolph gets promoted to bench coach now to replace zimmer. Ofcourse randolph is fucked, even if Torre leaves after next season, Mattingly may not be prepared to take over as manager and they may give it to Randolph. Then randolph is more fucked cause not only does he have to replace the NY god that Torre is, he has Mattingly breathing down his neck the 1st time willie fucks up.
