Pederast: ped·er·ast
Function: noun
Etymology: Greek paiderastEs, literally, lover of boys, from paid- ped. + erastEs lover, from erasthai to love

You disappoint me. CLS would have gotten it

A priest in the church I went to as a kid was caught molesting little alter boys. But instead of punishing him, they just sent him to a different Parish. What a load of crap. As if he wouldn't touch those boys too.

- Ken'sPen - 04-13-2002

doing that to a kid is the worst crime I can think of,
rather than being protected they should be thrown to the wolves.

Which leads me to another religious-related question. Why why why is it frowned upon in religion to enjoy something. I can understand moderation, but, I don't understand the desire to inflict upon oneself low self esteem and if I enjoy something I should feel guilty about it. Am I just being narrow-minded about this? :clueless:

I don't know, its part of the reason I turned away from religion, before I realized my atheist beliefs.

- Ken'sPen - 04-13-2002

We just want to make sure that our women won't enjoy it,
so that any children we have, we can be sure they are really ours.
At least I think that's how all the weird shit started.

According to Nietzsche religion came from the weak so because the weak, pre-religion were refused things while the pre-religion strong were able to get all they wanted, not having things became a cornerstone of religion. Because you can't get goods or power, you make it that getting goods and power corrupts your soul and makes you bad so the reason why religion frowns upon pleasure is because releigion was created by people who couldn't get pleasure so pleasure becomes bad for you.

Nietzsche is teh rule.

it all goes back to the time the rules were set. there wasn't birth control back then so they probably wanted a way to control unwanted babies, so they said to only do it if you plan on having a kid.

edit - yea, what ikea said to

Hed Cold,
back then infant mortality was sky high, and people in an agricultural society tended to need to have as many kids as possible, so I doubt that birth control was the reason.

- HedCold - 04-13-2002

yea, well that too
but that wouldn't have anything to do with frowning upon doing it with whores. they also wanted to keep it a sacred bond between people.

Ikea, when was there a time in man's history where there was a pre religion?
Don't furtility "Earth Mother" goddesses and so forth go back well before pre historic ages?

- IkeaBoy - 04-13-2002

I mean pre-Judeo/Christian religion

Those religions totally rocked...they were all about fucking and sucking....I learned about them in my women's history class and we read the story of Inanna who was queen of something, and she was going to get a husband and she was all worried about getting fucked and pleasured.

- Ken'sPen - 04-13-2002

sure beats the body and blood of Christ.

- Luna - 04-13-2002

***ooopsie...my post is a little late*******

And all those reasons you all provided make so much sense.

Before Christian times there were Pagan religions. These religions were more based on living in harmony with the earth and it's elements than they were about the devil and evil (what the Christians dubbed as witchcraft) and they were primarily a woman's religion.

I think the birth of cities brought in religions dominated by men,
at least that is what I remember,
The hunting and gathering way of life was tied in to the seasons much more,
and the men hunted, which left the shaman roles to women,
once cities came and the men stayed home we took over.

sorry,
looks like the women were doing a better job of it.
