It's funny because it happened to me

a few things from the rant:
Quote:Opie: At this point people just trash every little thing we do who are supposedly our hardcore fans
it's called criticism, grow up
Quote:Norton: I don’t care if people like post opinions,
THANK YOU!!!!

One thing that really fucking pisses me off. When they were told to not do something they usually did it and pissed the shit out of management. But now they're quickly becoming management bitches. I can't even bear to listen to the show for an extended period of time. I still periodically check in to see if it gets better and it just doesn't. It's sad. They need to learn to do what the fans want and not what management prefers.

Doc, you do realize that now I have to steal that idea and use it in one of the 500 GWTW pictures my gf has saved on my computer right? :p

I've always said having management that likes the show has hurt the show. It was better when they had people above them who did everything they could to stop them because then you heard the fight in their voice. Now it's kind of lazy. They work best with antagonists because when everything is going their way behind the scenes there's no battle in them and battles more gooder.

Just a little note: If anyone sends Anthony the link to this place, they are sooooooooo banned.

I think he would fit in perfectly here.

Quote:Brownstone, thats your opinion and you are entitled to it.
Thank you for giving me your permission to have an opinion.
Quote:The board sucks, does that mean Opie is a bitch if he complains about it just like some people like to whine about them on the board?
Opie is a bitch for the manner in which he was complaining (as was Anthony), not because of the fact that he was complaining at all.

- Keyser Soze - 02-22-2002

Quote:So keyser how hard were you when you heard OnA bash the board?

I was packing at least 3 inches, thanks for noticing.

Quote:Because lord knows they are the end all and be all of existance and whatever they say has got to be true.

Opie and Anthony are here to entertain me. I enjoy the show. I'm not the one who devoted a message board to them. I'm not the one who decided to become a moderator of said board. Who is the "super fan" who is now disappointed with his heros? I don't put enough emotional stock into the show to be disappointed with it. I enjoy the show, sometimes I enjoy discussing it. Thats about where it ends. As far as whatever they say is true, whether it is or not isn't the point. The point is that they said it and the motives behind them saying it.

Quote:As for us needing OnA, I know you don't check the board anymore, coughcoughbullshitcoughcough but if you would you would notice that until the naughty nightie contest, GD was the ghostown of oa.com. There were times when there was 3-5 posts a day during the show. Thats sad for a message board that supposedly lives and dies and is totally dependant on OnA.

I don't recall saying I never check the board, and if I did it should have clarified that I only check it for certain purposes. For example to validate what someone else tells me was said there. How else would I have the right to say the board has gone downhill if I haven't been there?

As far as it sinking, your statements pretty much echo that sentiment. If you feel the need to blame that on the Opie and Anthony show for the lack of interest in the board, well in that case you proved my point for me.

Quote:Is the board not as fun as it used to be, shit yeah. Why's that you may ask? It may have to do with different people bringing different things than before, it might have to do with the admin, it might have to do with mods, who knows.

I agree. So where exactly do our opinions differ?

Quote:Everyone has an opinion and everyone is entitled to it. What's mine? I think otl became a bigger priority than oa.com and the board suffered from it. Jeff was too busy coding otl and editing messages on rf.net to worry about chaging things that the mods asked him to. As a result, I know I for one stop giving a shit what happened.

Oh I see, the board went downhill cause Jeff wasn't around to babysit it? The board lives and dies on content. If there are not interesting posts and activity, the board dies. Simple as that. If moderators and administrators hinder the ability of people to speak freely, people lose their interest in speaking at all. So unless Jeff was responsible for censorship, i don't see how some technical issues lead to a lack of interest by posters.

Quote:Once jeff gave up control to our 2 new codeboys, things got better and although the board isn't as great as it once was, its a hell of a lot funner for me than it was a couple of months ago and that's important in my book.

What does coding have to do with interest in the board? I'm actually really interested in hearing how these new codeboys revitalized the board.

Quote:As for your personal vendetta against oa.com well I think it's time you moved on. I've seen you make comments about oa.com on here more than you've commented on FBP and thats saying something. How about you stop worrying about what we are or aren't doing and just let it go. It's not healthy to keep all that anger all subdued. You are going to blow a gasket one day

On one hand you tell me to move on, on the other you tell me not to keep my anger subdued. Which is it? I think its healthier to air it out, i think it would improve relations instead of hinder them. Lets lay it out on the table and try to understand one another instead of have animosity over things that are left unsaid. Or we could go the oa.com route and make like they didn't exist, sweep it under the rug, delete posts, edit them, ban people for pettiness, censor, hypocratize, etc.. etc..

The great thing about this place is free expression of ideas, positive, negative, because without conflict and resolution there is no progress. Haven't we already learned that lesson?

are we all in agreement that syndication killed the show?

Yup....

- Keyser Soze - 02-22-2002

I don't think its killed the show.

I'm interested in hearing why syndication would be a reason to stop listening.

The show doesn't have to revolve around New York for me to enjoy it or relate to it.

I think that O&A are bitches if they can't take criticism. I still enjoy the show however. I still listen to Stern. I don't have enough emotional investment into anyone who isn't a close friend or relative to care than on more than a level that they are entertainers that either entertain me or not.

- Galt - 02-22-2002

The show isn't less interesting because other cities can merely hear it. Although I used to listen to them in Boston before they left, I just started listening again since syndication.

It's the first few months of syndication, the show has changed. They now do incessant contests to give the show structure instead of just bullshitting for four hours.

They have guests more often than they used to, and a lot of their really mean, nasty shit that they were doing has stopped now because they have more visibility. T

hey repeat bits over and over again in order to appease the people who barely listen or are in new markets. Instead of doing 4 hours a day for 5 days, they do like 3 hours a day and then an hour of old clips or replays from that week. Which, from a business perspective, makes sense, but I don't care about that. I'm selfish and want the best show possible.

They are doing exactly what they used to shit on (rightfully so) as cheesy wacky radio. I remember right after syndication, they were harping on how the studio smelled like puke. They wouldn't shut up about it, and finally someone came in and said that Don and Mike had done a contest where people drank water until they puked. Opie specifically went off on how stupid that is, how it's cowbell radio, blah blah blah. Like three months later, there they were, doing the chowder-puke contest, and now they're talking about having someone drink milk until they puke. The examples of their hipocrasy regarding this type of radio are numerous in the last few months.

They've become everything they used to shit on, and that's why a lot of the "hardcore" fans were so into them before, and are now pissed at how much they've regressed.

- Keyser Soze - 02-22-2002

Galt, thats the best, most honest assesment i've heard yet.

Way too many contests. One ends, another begins. I enjoy some of them even if they've done them before. The 50 gallon drum challenge, sex for sam, any contest where chicks are getting naked for us never get old for me. The over-drinking, over-eating contests I can do without.

I like that fact they have more guests now. I liked listening to them bullshit for hours too but not exclusively.

I don't think they over-run old bits. I think its just about right.

I agree, they are hypocrates. I hope someone calls them and calls them out on it on the air. I work all day and listen to them from 3-5, then on the way home. The show still entertains me, it would be even more entertaining if they owned up to and addressed these weaknesses.

Ok I have to disagree with this. Do the "oh that's because you're gay" old gag but chicks getting nude DOES NOT MAKE GOOD RADIO!! Yes breasts are good visually, auditorily? They stink. And what makes it worse is hearing these stupid cunts whose only talent is that they can remove a fucking shirt talk about their retarded website and Opie and Anthony not having the balls to say "We dont care get away." It was precisely the stupid strippers that I used as a way to describe how Opie and Anthony are better than Stern but now they have them on just as much.

Quote:I like that fact they have more guests now. I liked listening to them bullshit for hours too but not exclusively.
Guests and friends of the show are two differet things. Norton, Breuer, Mohr, Dice, Black- Friends of the show. Guests aren't. The only good guests are bad guests because of the cring radio. I don't care about their latest fucking project.

I have defintely cut back on my listening time lately simply because I am not entertained.

As for the OA.com board- is it good? is it bad? basically I don't care. There aren't many interesting threads around and if you talk about the show in a negative light you get bashed on the air.

- AdolescentMasturbator - 02-22-2002

Let's put it this way. They are this close to becoming Bubba the Love Sponge.

- Keyser Soze - 02-22-2002

Quote:Yes breasts are good visually, auditorily? They stink.

I can put up with a few moments of bad radio in order for me to run a batch to the pictures when I get home and check foundry.

I agree with you on the guests thing, but I can't name more than a few guests that you descibed that have been on the show. Most of the guests that are not friends of the show I have really enjoyed include Denis Leary and Russell Crowe.

Dude, you can find spank material on a million other sites. I'm 100% in agreement with Ikea on this, any visual bit sucks. I listen to O&A for teh funney, and teh funney has been absent the last couple of months. Frankly, them talking about oa.com a couple of days ago was the most amusing thing I've heard in weeks, and that's not saying alot.

Oh, and FoundryMusicCrybabyJeff and his precious site can both suck a dong

- PatCooper - 02-23-2002

I still listen to the show every day for maybe 2 hours total. It still akes me laugh so that's why i listen. I want to be entertained. I can give a fuck what they say about oa.com. If they dont enjoy reading the site that's their choice. Just like it's my choice to post here and not there. It's a radio show and a message board, does it really matter that much in the big picture of things.

- Kim - 02-23-2002

Norton is the only reason why I listen - he's the only entertaining thing on the show.

As far as the message board bashing that occured...I think it was just uncalled for - seems to me that syndication has gone to their heads!
