Hey I said Spumoni Gardens first!!! :pissed:

I think the B train stops over there...their spumoni is so yummy...nothing beats a slice and then some spumoni in the summer.

so, is the first cdih party gonna be at a pizza place in brooklyn?

- PollyannaFlower46 - 03-25-2002

LOL if it is, I gotta say I only eat the middle slices...I don't like the crust Smile

- Tenbatsuzen - 03-25-2002

Another good chain Italian restaurant - they don't serve pizza but it's soooo fucking good - "Buca di Beppo" or something like that. Holy shit. It's like every Italian stereotype - when you come in, they walk you thru the kitchen, Goodfellas style. It's quite cool.

Rule #1: Don't get in a fight with someone from NYC.

Rule #2: Don't try to get in a discussion with someone from NYC about something they feel is localized/their own.

With that disclaimer been stated, I will tread very very lightly.

In CT, I can't get a decent pizza. Oh, if I want to go a couple of towns over, sure, but not in my hometown. It seems that the pizzas here are made by Greeks and two very important ingrediants have not been researched: sauce and dough. The sauce is very thin, incredibly sweet, and very very mild (read: no noticable oregano, basil, parsley). On the nights that the wife and I have a pizza, we end up cooking a $4.98 Walmart special DiGiorno ("It's French"). But pizza around here sucks.

Now, not to dig Manhattan, I have never had pizza from Manhattan and I am not about to spend $23 to taste a pizza from Manhattan, but the best pizza I had was in Buffalo (well, not the city of Buffalo, but a couple of the whitey suburbs). There is the place called Santora's and Pizza Junction that had supurb chewy, thick crust, nice spicy sauce, and absolutely unfucking believable Sargento cheese. Add on a couple of toppings (sometimes the pepperoni would be so thick, it would singe) and you were in heaven. Well, add a couple of thick beers and a big titted Polish decent girl.....

But, I also worked at a Pizza Place in B-Lo called Pizza Plant. They had a unique, sort of vegetarian attitude toward pizza. You have 5 choices of dough: Garlic, Wheat, Pesto, White, and Fuckit if I can Remember and I think 40 toppings (carrots?, Artichoke hearts?). Well, the one interesting thing they had was a stuffed pizza: Dough in a very deep dish, cheese and "toppings", another layer of dough, sauce sprinkled with cheap parmesan cheese. Very good. They also hade a Buffalo chicken pizza: Chicken cutlet in Red Hot. I always added black olives.

Oh, and I had pineapple on pizza.

Naw, people from Philly (or South Jersey, because they say are from Philly) are the worst to get into a fight with over crap like this. I've seen my old roommate (who was from a suburb of Philadelphia) almot get into a fistfight when arguing over cheesesteaks.

I guess it's the whole Napolean complex thing.

Oh, so this isn't amazingly off-topic, you can not get good pizza (or bagels or pretzels for that matter) away from the Northeast. Try to get a good pizza in Texas or Kansas or something, and you get either Dominos or a soupy, sweet, shit on a shingle

- Sloatsburgh - 03-25-2002

I wouldn't expect to get good bagels in Texas. Jewish people aren't allowed into that state.

I can't find good pizza. Usually have to go to NUY to get a decent piece. I used to get pizza in Linden at Anacapri but it's been closed for a bit. Primo fucking pizza. My two favorite toppings are calamari and black olives.

Pineapple pizza is the best..the only thing is they have to cook it really good or else the whole thing is just a big mushy mess..the best pizza ever..probably the loacl independent pizza place, cause they know me, and they always make it exactly how I like it

- HedCold - 03-30-2002

near my college theres no good pizza places, so we have to get dominos. at least theres a special for one pie for 5 bucks, but it still sucks thats all we can get. theres this place hallal pizza, it had me shitting all night

- Hosp - 03-30-2002

All chain pizza sucks. 99% of the pizza places in Manhattan suck. Up in the bronx there are ony 2 places I go. Crosby Pizza for traditional pizza, and for really good brick oven, Patricia's on Morris Park Ave.

In Manhattan, I only eat Two Boots and Patsy's on 116th and 1st(But not during lunch or dinner rush because they don't cook them long enough)
<marquee>I'm bored and experimenting</marquee>

That fuckin place used to rock!!!

I live in South Jersey, and there is only one place that I found with good Pizza. Marios on Rt.9 in Forkedriver. (Slash past Caffreys on the right). They make a prety good pizza.

OHH shit.. make that 2 places... Pete & Eldas on Rt 35 in Neptune. Thin crust, easy to eat and the prices are not bad.

If you want ok Boardwalf Pizza, I suggest The Sawmill, it's on the end of the Seaside board walk, in Seaside Park. The pizza from this place has a nice thick crust, ok sauce and cheese. BUT what's great about it is.. the large pie is 2x the size of your normal large pie.Great for a hangover breakfest.
