they've proven many people wrong before, and its only may but i think the yankees are toast this year. the smartest thing they could do is to allow cashman to really rebuild this team with great young talent like hughes and wang and start from the ground up, but the culture of the yankees over the past several years is in direct opposition of that.

actually, cashman has been stockpiling the minor leagues with talent. their farm system is top rated by baseball american and espn.

Yeah, to be honest, I can't say anything good about the Yanks right now, except when it come to Posada and Jeter. Jeter has been swinging the bat the same exact way for like over two years now.

Where did you see the Yankees ranked 17th? I believe they are ranked in the top 10. John Sickels also put them in the top 10. Not only do they have Hughes, but Jose Tabata is suppsedly really good, and he's only 18. It's mostly pitchers that they have aside from Tabata.

Baseball Prospectus had the Yankees system ranked 4th (Mets 8th, Red Sox 11th)
Hardball Times has the Yankees ranked 11th (Mets 8th, Red Sox 13th)
John Sickels has the Yankees ranked 6th (Red Sox 9th, Mets 17th)

i don't think you can get the 2007 ranks without subscribing to BA
anyhow, they're ranked *near* the top by most of the minor league 'experts', lets see if they actually hold onto them and let them develop. the 'win now' mentality in the bronx has prevented that for some time now.
