the ability to scroll to letters has nothing to do with the hardware, its the software, which you can upgrade on apple.com to the latest version for your ipod.

and apple will send you replacement headphones for free forever, but they suck. the top of the line earbuds are the E4c from Shure which cost $300, but a more reasonably priced set is the Apple M9394G/A iPod Earbud, which go for around $50. They have signifigantly more bass and don't fall out of your ears when you're running.

My first iPod got stolen. I loved that iPod. I actually used it.

Then I got a 2gb Nano to replace it. I never used it. I ended up giving it away.

these are the buds I use

http://www.amazon.com/Sony-MDR-EX71SL-Fontopia-Headphones-Black/dp/B000092YQW/sr=8-1/qid=1161139037/ref=sr_1_1/104-3854560-0290301?ie=UTF8&s=electronics

I highly recommend them.

those are the ones that me & dino have too. i originally bought the apple ones, but thought they sounded like shit. the guy at the store said something about them being made for certain shaped ears & that a lot of people were having problems with them. they gave me my money back. then i researched what the best buds were & thats where i found the fontopia. i've had them for a really long time & i really like them.

Additionally, for you to really see the show, you have to have the backlight on, which drains the battery completely in about 30 minutes.

As always galt is wrong.

I listened to the ipod at work for about 4-5 hours, then I watched 2 episodes of the office and also part of the nip tuck episode i missed from last week, then I listened to it for another hour after the cardio and in total I used about a 1/4 of the battery.

I will admit though that the ipod earbuds are not good for working out, I didnt get shocked but they kept on slipping out cause of the running movement and sweat.

when you scroll fast the letter comes up.

this is only on the newest ones, and i think the newest nanos, and was what i was talking about.

Hedcold already supported my contention that older iPods suck for video and the battery drains fast.

And I'm sorry if I run so fast that I generate electric current.

yeah I have both of those features, the 2nd option you posted, the actual search is quite handy. I only used it once but it gives you results as you are entering the word. like you type in "be" it will start showing you results like beatles, bee gees, and names of songs as well, etc.
