I heard the yankees and red sox are the 2 main suitors for benitez. On the Yankees he would be the setup man for mariano. Put him on a winning club with a winning attitude with no pressure of closing and he might be a big help. He throws 97mph which is a huge plus. The Yankees bullpen sucks right now.

Although on the other hand if he goes to the Red Sox, I hope he goes into a deep depression and loses as many games as possible and the Yankees will destroy him on the Red Sox. Think the Mets are pressure, go to the Red Sox and have a meltdown.

acevedo throws 95+ mph too

I think weaver has great stuff. He's a great pitcher...but he can't pitch for big time ball clubs. Once the pressure is on, he just caves. Pitching against the Devil Rays, he can't get it done. If he was on the Tigers, he'd shut them down. But because of the pressure of pitching for NY, he wilts. I'd be suprised if he is still a yankee by the end of the year.
i was wrong. he has the arm. just not the tempermant

- x-file - 06-25-2003

I think tonights game against Tampa, Pettite should come out, first pitch thrown should be right at the leadoff batters head. These last couple games, Tampa has gotten away with deliberatley hitting Soriano after Homering and then Jeter. They need to be hit.

- x-file - 06-25-2003

If benitez goes to boston, its been said that he would be the setup guy, and they would move Kim back to the closer role. The yankees would be drooling if they saw that

- Galt - 06-25-2003

I know, cuz remember that series when the Yankees beat the DBacks all because of Kim? Remember?

it wasnt like kim had anything to do with the d-backs win.

galt, you should be more worried about the bluejays getting that wild card spot than the yankees winning the division

- Galt - 06-25-2003

If you recall, I predicted the Blue Jays would win the Wild Card before the season began.

- Arpikarhu - 06-25-2003

i do not recall any such thing , nor is it relevant to the meaning of my post :21:

Your so on the bandwagon

- Arpikarhu - 06-25-2003

i have found proof that Galt is lying and jumping on the Blue jays bandwagon.

I have not been paying as much attention as I normally do to baseball, but I am ashamed that nothing has been put out there yet. Yes, I admit my bias. I think the Sox will kick ass this year. The've addressed the problems they had last year (atrocious bullpen - like 15-30 in one run games, and no bench depth). The offense will be much better and won't rely completely on Manny or Nomar (who is not injury prone) with a huge offensive upgrade at 1B and 2B and Millar/Hillenbrand/Ortiz will put up better numbers than Daubach. If Pedro (who is injury prone) which he did all year last year, I see no reason why Lowe drops, and why Casey Fossum can't have a good year. The Yanks have been too fortunate without any injuries, and I wish a pox on them.

AL East
Red Sox
Blue Jays
Yankees ( F U C K Y O U )
Devil Rays
Orioles

AL Central
Twins
White Sox
Indians
Royals
Tigers

AL West
As
Mariners
Angels
Rangers (Best last place team in baseball)

Playoffs: Red Sox, Twins, As, Mariners

Yanks Make Trade

I don't think this is the answer. I guess either Ruben Sierra's injury is worse than we thought or Juan Rivera is either going to be traded or the boss has had it

- Galt - 06-25-2003

wow. I thought I had.

I stand corrected. It was not a lie, as if I were lying, I wouldn't have so easily pointed it out to you.

I did, however predict that the Blue Jays will finish ahead of the Yankees and I stand by that.

your predictions mean nothing in the face of your lies. your every word now lacks veracity and you are no longer to be trusted in regards to any sporting manner.

the best lies hide in plain sight.

for shame Galt, for shame! :disappointed:

none of the above.
karim garcia will be the off bench pinch runner to replace gipson. gipson got picked off 3 times, so he was history.

- Galt - 06-26-2003

You've never seen Garcia have you? He's no pinch runner.

The guy can actually hit. After the Yankees shipped him off to Cleveland last year, he had a monster second half. Something like 50 RBI in 50 games with 15 homers. I could actually look it up, but you get the idea.

He could end up being real good, but he'll never play for the Yanks.

i have seen him. what i said was that was how the yankees will use him.
by the way , he is a career .234 hitter with an OBP of . 273.
one good half a season does not mean a thing. while his numbers have gotten better over the years he has never been seen as a consistent player. why do you think cleveland let him go for a song?

- Galt - 06-26-2003

I don't know why they gave him away. I don't know even what the Yankees gave up.

I think if Garcia were given a full time job, he could be a decent hitter. Someone in the .280 25+ homer range.

All in all, not a bad hitter. Especially as a lefty in that park, he could be a very good pickup.

- Arpikarhu - 06-26-2003

every team he has been on has given up on him. i just read something that said he was "unwilling to learn".

- x-file - 06-26-2003

I bet you would love for you precious little Blue Jays could of picked him up?

He's a bench player thats all. He might get a start here and there, but just because Torre hates Trammell and would rather use Garcia.
