Re: The 2007 New York Yankees Thread - The Jays - 06-06-2007 Jersey smells worse. All SI has is tidal marsh and ocean breezes. Jersey has awful smelling refineries as well as tidal marsh and ocean breezes. Re: The 2007 New York Yankees Thread - Galt - 06-06-2007 I thought Staten Island smelled like TAG Body spray. Re: The 2007 New York Yankees Thread - The Jays - 06-06-2007 Tag or Axe, either or. Re: The 2007 New York Yankees Thread - Keyser Soze - 06-06-2007 drakkar noir Re: The 2007 New York Yankees Thread - GonzoStyle - 06-07-2007 whoa whoa, what the fuck is wrong with TAG, that shit smells delicious. Re: The 2007 New York Yankees Thread - The Jays - 06-13-2007 The Yanks find themselves in a similiar position as the 2005 team found themselves in at this time in June, except they were 30-32. Big difference, they weren't 9.5 games out, it was only 6, and the Sox were just behind Baltimore in the standings. Re: The 2007 New York Yankees Thread - Galt - 06-13-2007 The Sox 2005 team was also nowhere near as good as this one. Unless there are some pretty significant injuries, I can't possibly see the Sox not winning the division. Re: The 2007 New York Yankees Thread - The Jays - 06-15-2007 Eh, whatever. It's fun to be an underdog. The Yanks just look crisp right now, ever since Cabrera took over in center and Damon DHing. And Cairo is really a savior, he plays great first base, and always does something with the offense. I've always liked him, even when he played for the Mets. The starters have put in some longer games this week, so whatever we have in the bullpen should be pretty rested. Mariano is back for the moment, Bruney is awesome, the only one I question is Clemens, and that real test comes tomorrow. Re: The 2007 New York Yankees Thread - Bloody Anus - 06-15-2007 You had be going until 'Bruney is awesome'. I'm pretty sure that's the first time that phrase has ever been said. Re: The 2007 New York Yankees Thread - Galt - 06-15-2007 Don't forget the real questions that Abreu is in the midst of a clear career decline clouded by a two week hot streak, that Arod isn't going to hit 75 homers and drive in 180 runs, that Posada isn't going to hit .350, that Damon is hurt, that Giambi may not play again this year, that Hughes may not play again this year, and that unless the offense continues to score 7+ runs a game, the fact that the pitching is still relatively shitty. The Yankees really need to capitalize on their weak June/July schedules and get up north of 60 or so wins by the end of July, because August is going to be a bitch. Re: The 2007 New York Yankees Thread - Bloody Anus - 06-15-2007 To justify my initial skepticism...Bruney has the same number of walks (19) as Schoeneweis in just 6.2 more innings. He's always been a walks machine. It's only a matter of time before that 2.20 ERA creeps its way up towards 5. Abreu was in the midst of a two month long slump, where his mechanics and timing were completely off, which is now over. Damon is going to be playing DH instead of center, where he's replaced by the best arm out there in Cabrera. Giambi's not there, oh noes, they spent last season without Matsui or Sheffield, and they did ok. El Duque is the best Yankee ever. Bruney is allowing less than a hit per inning, getting a strike out per inning, while walking one per inning. So, yeah, walks machine, sure. Hughes was throwing off a half mound like three weeks ago. And, last year, everyone was creaming about how Pujols was so amazing, and that he was going to hit 80 HR before he got hurt, now that A-rod is doing the same thing, it's all shit? The Yanks have already been capitalizing on the weak June schedule; they won series against Boston, Chicago, Pittsburg, Arizona, and now the Mets. Re: The 2007 New York Yankees Thread - Keyser Soze - 06-18-2007 how can anyone defend schoeneweis? he's like the 2007 version of mike stanton. the game is already over if he's in or he will end it for you. Re: The 2007 New York Yankees Thread - HedCold - 06-18-2007 pujols was actually on pace to hit 80 (or whatever the ridiculous number was) before he got his minor injury and missed a few games. arod is only on pace for 65 Re: The 2007 New York Yankees Thread - GonzoStyle - 06-18-2007 only 65, jeez what a herb.
