Another attempt to make the jew seem like a heathen. Overall a good movie, a safe movie with all the popular cliches that the academy eats up. Crowe gives a really good performance though, renee zelwegger is really stale and paul giamati is awesome.
Historically its rubbish, it makes Braddock look like a saint and Baer the jew look like the devil which is completely untrue but it's hollywood. Also makes it too much of a come from behind story by making it look like Braddock couldnt get a fight for years due to injury which is also untrue. Though it was true that no one gave Braddock a chance and pretty much figured that it was certain death. It's very similar to how people viewed the Foreman Ali fight, it wasnt a question of will ali win, it was a question of will ali leave the ring alive, of course Braddock wasn't in the same universe as Ali.

i saw cinderella man and i enjoyed it for what it was. a sappy comeback story and the fight scenes were actually pretty well done. i was surprised how poorly it did at the box office. the theater i went to see it at was completely packed.

I'm not too surprised that it didnt do too well, it did well for the type of film it is. If it rakes in 40 million it will be a success, this is an oscar film. Especially with Mr & Mrs Smith opening as well as the long awaited Niggermooners.
