Though I don't have a link, I do have an anecdote, which is just as good.

I was at some bar with the local band playing their typical cover band tunes of recent rock and some olden favorites. I though nothing of when they started playing Sweet Home Alabama, and the crowd was as into it as they were for all the other songs. And then right in the middle of Sweet Home Alabama, they did a couple verses of Gangsta of Love. 99% of the crowd was just shocked and appalled at this turn of events as they had no clue what the hell was going on, including my friends. I was laughing my ass off, but it was lost on everyone else.
