Coco Crisp - Galt - 01-28-2006 Is a really stupid name. And for the record, though I'm sure they won't heed my advice, Crisp should not bat leadoff. Loretta or possibly Youkilis should bat leadoff. And if Crisp bats leadoff, then Youkilis should bat 9th rather than Alex Gonzalez (who they'll most assuredly sign as SS). Youkilis walks a ton, and it would be better having him batting ahead of Crisp, walking and getting on base, since Crisp puts the ball in play and hits for decent average/OPS rather than having him bat ahead of Gonzalez who will hit .230 and strike out all the time wasting Youkilis' .400+ OBP - TheGMANN - 01-28-2006 This thread made me want cereal now. - Adolf - 01-28-2006 not unless there's a baseball player named cap'n crunch - HollywoodJewMoses - 01-28-2006 hes going to be fucking amazing for them. - Bloody Anus - 01-28-2006 First of all, Youkilis probably won't even be in the starting lineup. Lowell will start the season at 3B; Snow at 1B. Eventually Youkilis will probably platoon with Snow and get the majority of starts against righties. Second, Youkilis' ability to draw walks has been extremely overhyped ever since Moneyball came out. In 79 AB's last year he walked 14 times, once every 5.64 at bats. Not too bad, but he also struck out 19 times. Add to that the 33 walks to 45 K's in 208 AB's in '04. Not exactly what you want leading off. Granted, Crisp's BB:K ratio isn't much better, but he's got the speed and energy you need at the top of the order. CF) Crisp 2B) Loretta DH) Ortiz LF) Ramirez C) Varitek RF) Nixon 3B) Lowell 1B) Snow SS) Gonzalez - HollywoodJewMoses - 01-28-2006 jt snow is not starting over kevin youkilis, you are a madman - Bloody Anus - 01-28-2006 Snow is a gold glove caliber 1B and will end up getting the majority of starts in the platoon vs. a guy that's made 9 career starts at 1B. He will also put up better offensive numbers than most think, moving from Pac Bell to Fenway. He still won't hit for much power, but then again neither will Youkilis. Youkilis will be a major major bust this season. - HollywoodJewMoses - 01-28-2006 you'll be proven very wrong |
