Your favorite stand up special - GonzoStyle - 02-26-2006

I been talking to people about favorite stand up specials and it seems that based on age that everyone has a specific favorite.

For me and most of my friends it's always been Eddie Murphy's special "Delirious". I remember even as a 6 year old when I first saw it, I was just blown away not just by the language but the material. Everyone in school knew pretty much the entire special by heart. From the Gay Mr T. to Goonie Goo Goo, you had a favorite segment wether it be the drunk cookout with aunt bunny or the ice cream man.

Richard Pryor: Live on the sunset strip to me is the epitome of comedic brilliance but as a personal favorite I gotta go with Delirious. What's fuckin sad is that it will probably never be released on DVD or even VHS ever again because Murphy purchased the rights to it and refuses to release it. A shame because that was his prime and when he was actually funny, granted his current genre of childrens flicks wouldn't mesh well if his young audience today heard his views from 23 years ago on Aids and Faggots but that shit was just brilliant and has stood the test of time, maybe not material wise but you can't mistake greatness now matter how out of date the material is.
