kiss the pc goodbye! - Arpikarhu - 04-05-2006 http://www.apple.com/macosx/bootcamp/ - Goatweed - 04-05-2006 but how well does XP run on a mac? in other words, can I load up my games & play them on a mac like I do with my PC now, or is it just a shell of XP-lite? - Arpikarhu - 04-05-2006 load up the games! - Topper Harley - 04-05-2006 I don't get it. Why would a PC person buy a mac to run XP? I can understand it if a person needs to be able to run both, but not for the vast majority of users. - HedCold - 04-05-2006 most people supposedly want a pc for games/some software they MUST use for whatever reason, but would like to still use OS X for web browsing, email, ilife - all that stuff goatweed it runs on it because the new macs use intel chips. they're no different hardware wise from a regular pc now. it didn't work before because OS X doesn't use a BIOS, but a new thing called EFI. no version of windows supports that yet, so it couldn't boot on it (unless you use a hack that came out a few weeks ago) - Topper Harley - 04-05-2006 But then you'd still need to reboot every time you switch between the two. It's not just emulating windows during a mac session. - HedCold - 04-05-2006 for some people thats good enough, for now also in the next os x this capabiliy is supposed to be built in, so they might spiffy it up to make it happen faster or something. its just a start - Goatweed - 04-08-2006 it's intriguing, and I'd be willing to give it a shot so long as it was stable & didnt use a 1 button mouse. - drusilla - 04-08-2006 maybe thats what "mighty mouse" is for - Mad - 04-08-2006 Once you go Mac, you can never go back. |
