that kid is going places

- GonzoStyle - 10-04-2006

The best thing about him is his class. Like the question he was asked yesterday "does it make it easier when YOU have a night like this?" and he replied "you mean when the TEAM has a night like this". Most other players woulda hogged up the spotlight and highlighted their accomplishments but not the cap'n.

Class all the way.

- The Jays - 10-04-2006

And then he got the question like, With a night like this, you certainly seem to embody the MVP. What do you think are your chances? He's all like, MVP? What's that, an award of some sort? And then the guy's like, yeah, it's this award that they give out, and you seem to have nice stats, and then Jeter's like, Stats? What in the heck are stats?

- Galt - 10-05-2006

Jeter over Ortiz or Morneau or Dye for MVP is an absolute travesty.

- 2 tired 2 give N F - 10-05-2006

Dye's team collapsed
Ortiz's team collapsed

The only legit people that should get MVP are Morneau, Thomas and Jeetz. And since the Yanks who lost 250 RBI's from their line up when Shef and Matsui went down finished in first place and tied for the best record in baseball I think he wouldn't be the worst candidate. Sure he doesn't hit the long ball but he's clutch and he had one of the best averages this year.

HR's should not an MVP make.

- GonzoStyle - 10-05-2006

Santana is more important to his team than morneau, as jays and I talked about.

Jeter carried a team that had pretty much no picthing, they had a 2nd year chink as their best pitcher. They lost matsui and sheff, abreu didnt get there till the last few weeks. On the field, in the dugout and in the lockeroom, that man is MVP all the way.

Ortiz still had Manny and even so they still crumbled. The yanks should have by all means crumbled and it coulda been blamed on no pitching and losing sheff and matsui but Jeter carried that team to the playoffs.

Frank Thomas is the only real viable candidate cause he willed that team the last month, but still that A's have a pitching staff which is more valuable.

- Galt - 10-05-2006

if they want to make a proclaimation that players are only eligible if their teams make the playoffs then they should write that in the rules.

Until they do, it's retarded to exclude Ortiz because Manny and half of his team got hurt, or Dye because all the pitchers on his team stopped playing in August.

I've also accepted that no pitcher will again win the MVP. Santana was great, but he doesn't hold a candle to the numbers that Pedro put up in 98-'01 when he got passed over ever year.

Jeter "carried" a team? Giambi and Arod on the White Sox, Red Sox, or Twins would have been the best or second best player on the team. Not to mention Damon. The Yankees offense is insane. The Sox, Twins, and White Sox were basically two or three good hitters and then shit after that. The Yankees had a guy hitting .340 batting 9th. It's laughable to think Jeter carried them offensively.

It's not homers alone. Dye, Morneau, Ortiz. All dwarved Jeters run production with a higher OPS, plus THEY ALL MEANT MORE TO THEIR TEAM.

- GonzoStyle - 10-05-2006

in your opinion

- Galt - 10-05-2006

I do not accept your apology
