Looking for a MMORPG - faceman802 - 10-05-2006
I'm looking for a good one to play and I figured someone on here could steer me in the right direction. I play Knight Online from time to time and its pretty good, but I dont know if I wanna go any farther in it. WoW is supposed to be the end all and be all but I've heard people hate it. Guild Wars is great according to a friend but I dont know about that yet. anyway what does everyone think? which direction should I go towards

WoW is amazing. Guild Wars was a dissappointment. I play on the Bloodhoof server on WoW....sporadically these days..but what an amazing game. Played it since Dec of 2004.
I've tried a few...Dark Age of Camelot. Everquest my brother played, and was a borefest. WoW achieves a level that no MMORPG can touch...and I'm a jaded opinionated motherfucker who seldom plays a game for more than a week. This game is the gold standard...lots to do...so much depth. Interaction on the forums vs the enemy. Battlegrounds to play capture the flag. An arena to fight one another. Good quests and intricate and well developed stories, lore and whatnot. Just fun all-around. And can't recommend anything higher. A time sucker, if you have it..great. If not, can be a challenge.

So the South Park episode convinced me to get WoW. I was debating it for awhile and finally gave in when I was at Best Buy the other day.

umm..yeah.
Bloodhoof server. Level 60 Paladin. Go Horde though...much better crew on "other side" on that server. Too many bratty kids play The Alliance.

I hate playing with other people but have heard amazing things about WoW so I might break down and get it eventually. I used to play Diablo II and Everquest which were really cool but then I found the wonderfulness that is the Elder Scroll series. Playing Morrowind now and beat Oblivion a while back. Amazing games, HUGE worlds, and all of it on the friendly confines of your own PC.

i played oblivion over the summer...one of the best games i've played in years. except it got way too easy after i got into a relatively high level, since monsters stop leveling at some point. throw in that i had equipment that had me absorbing 80% of spells and had over half my damage blocked, i was able to just tank my way through almost anything without any challenge in non-puzzle areas
