With the Red Sox's lead in the division down to 1.5 games, this weekend's series promises to either secure their spot in first, or allow the Yanks to finally move into first place.

Yankee Stadium is always an interesting place to be when the Sox are in town...anyone going? I'll be there tomorrow night (and finally see my Boomer pitch), and Sunday...

I say the Yanks take 2 games of the series.

Hey, I'm not unrealistic...we got a new guy on the mound on Sunday, but I know that my Boomer and Mussina can hold off the Sucks.

lowe is nasty. boston pitching is very good this year. you know the old adage, pitching and defense win championships. the yankees should not take the sox lightly this year. then again, they sox always seem to find a way to beat themselves.

I figure that the Sox are good contenders this year, but I think at the very least being at the Stadium will be helpful to the Yanks.

David Wells is a fat load. Frank Castillo is a solid pitcher, though he can only pitch 6 innings. Friday should be the Sox, Saturday HAS to be the Yankees, and I'd say Boston wins Sunday too.

While the Sox are only 1 1/2 up, they've played less games than the Yankees, and since they're winning 2 out of every three games, they should pull a bit further ahead.

The Sox WILL NOT slide this year, but the Yanks will just pull away due to acquisitions

from another thread i sad

hmmm..and theres news about his bad back is there not?
a few more weeks and i'll be right.

now nomar just has to break something...

Hedcold, you don't want me to pull out my Nostradamus like predictions from earlier in the year..

Namely Lowe, Astacio, Sabathia, Miller off the top of my head (of course, I also had Iztursis and Tyner in there as well, so just ignore the bad ones)

- HedCold - 05-31-2002

ssshhh...its not about predictions, its about the fact hes actually hurt

His not fat, he's pleasantly plump. I say the Yankees take tomorrow and Saturday without a doubt, I'll give you Sunday, but that's it. When we got him, we knew he had a bad back, and he's really not doing badly at all.

If the Yankees pull away due to acquisitions, rather than being pissed at the Yankees for getting good players, get pissed at the management of other teams for not being so agressive. And just remember good players don't always make for winning teams.

- Galt - 05-31-2002

I won't be pissed at the Yankees. They're smart enough to pump up and then trade their shitty minor leaguers like Jiminez and keep the good ones like Soriano, Jeter, et al

Here's what the serires sounded like in Boston last week.
