- Arthur Dent - 07-02-2002 Documentary on Game of Death damn, just hope I get home from my softball game in time to watch this! - Hey Ladi - 07-02-2002 Quote:In an effort to salvage the scenes from "Death" already shot, the producers went back and used cardboard cutouts and body doubles to make the majority of the film. 11 mins! That's pretty sad :-o - GonzoStyle - 07-03-2002 Well I didn't read the story or watch the documentary but I have read many books on lee. I've seen Game of death many times. The original story was supposed to be a tower of death in which lee would battle different foes at each level of the tower. The 1st level was gonna be Lee vs 20 student type martial artists, then a judo guy, etc etc. The shooting of the film coincided with the shooting of Enter The Dragon which was Lee's only american production. He worked really hard on Game of death, people felt it contributed to his death. But you gotta remember for a 2 hour film people can shoot 20, 30, even a 100 hours of film which they then edit. So 100 mins may sound like a lot but it could end up being 10 minutes of film like it did. But I have seen some of the clips and they are pretty fuckin cool. The scene with Kareem Abdul Jabbar is still priceless, lol. - Arthur Dent - 07-03-2002 Quote:Bruce thought the martial arts were too tradition-bound, that people were only getting into one form and so bound to it because of cultural or traditional constraints," said Abdul-Jabbar. Game of Death was supposed to be a graphic illustration of Lee's core philosophy, the foundation for Jeet Kun Do. Unfortunately, I didn't get home in time to watch this. Hope it gets replayed soon. |
