The sefl proclaimed king of freaks, Michael Jackson wants to play the part of Edgar Allen Poe, in an upcoming movie. The script is all ready and they even have a director for the project.

Poe who was the father of the detective novel and the 1st author who made me almost crap my pants when reading, 'The Tell-tale Heart'. Being played by a guy who just creeps me out, sure doesn't sound all that appetizing.

Excuse me while I repress the need to throw up

I can see it now...

Once upon a midnight dreary, HEE HEE!!!
While I pondered, weak and weary.. SHAMON!!!!

Michael Jackson doesn't need to play Poe to be scary. :crackhead:

Finally they are making a biopic on one of the most fascinating people in literary history and it is gonna be ruined. I'd love to see someone like Jeromy Irons play Poe.

The Conqueror Worm
by Edgar Allan Poe

Lo! 'tis a gala night
Within the lonesome latter years!
An angel throng, bewinged, bedight
In veils, and drowned in tears,
Sit in a theatre, to see
A play of hopes and fears,
While the orchestra breathes fitfully
The music of the spheres.

Mimes, in the form of God on high,
Mutter and mumble low,
And hither and thither fly --
Mere puppets they, who come and go
At bidding of vast formless things
That shift the scenery to and fro,
Flapping from out their Condor wings
Invisible Wo!

That motley drama! --oh, be sure
It shall not be forgot!
With its Phantom chased forever more,
By a crowd that seize it not,
Through a circle that ever returneth in
To the self-same spot,
And much of Madness and more of Sin
And Horror the soul of the plot.

But see, amid the mimic rout,
A crawling shape intrude!
A blood-red thing that writhes from out
The scenic solitude!
It writhes! --it writhes! --with mortal pangs
The mimes become its food,
And the seraphs sob at vermin fangs
In human gore imbued.

Out --out are the lights --out all!
And over each quivering form,
The curtain, a funeral pall,
Comes down with the rush of a storm,
And the angels, all pallid and wan,
Uprising, unveiling, affirm
That the play is the tragedy, "Man,"
And its hero the Conqueror Worm.

Depp would have made a good Poe

The Tell Tale Heart and The Fall of the House of Usher are my two favorite... I used to have nightmares about getting lost in the House of Usher. Rober McCammon wrote a fictional novel based on The Fall of the House of Usher that was pretty good. And Jeremy Irons would be a perfect Poe...creepy in a classy kinda way.

You know, I did a lot of papers in H.S. about EAP.

What a shitty concept.

He's not even black enough anymore to play the raven.

If it happens, it just shows how fame can overcome goog judgment.

The tell-tale hart is the only story to this day, that still scares me. The beating heart growing louder and louder.. thump, thump, thump.
