... to playing poker on the internet. i had never played poker, up until 4 weeks ago at a friends house. now i can't stop playing.

i lost all my money at the friends house so i decided to practice on the internet. i went to a site that let you play with fake money. that started to bore me, so the next thing you know i'm depositing 50 dollars into an online credit card account, so i can take that money and deposit into the poker sites account. my real credit card company won't let me use my funds to gamble, those bastards.

i have only played on their tournament tables. each of 10 players, pays $6 to play. 5 goes to the pot and $1 goes to the house. everyone gets 800 dollars in chips and play begins. the last three people win money, 25 for first, 15 for second and 10 for third. i have already won 2 tournaments and came in second 3 or 4 times. they also have 10, 30 and 100 dollar tables but i'm not too sure about risking that type of bread just yet. maybe soon.

does anyone else play?

- Mad - 12-01-2003

Never been tempted to play on the Internet.

I do love to watch the World Series of Poker and other people losing their shirts, though, fun stuff. Me losing not so fun, think I'd rather kill people online instead.

It's a healthy addiction, instead of breaking all sorts of laws and stuff.

I'm addicted to sports gambling sites on the internet, only its a healthy addiction because I never lose.

never split 9s or higher

- Suzie - 12-01-2003

if the dealer has a bust card its ok to split 9s.

- Galt - 12-01-2003

that's crazy talk. Splitting an 18?

Fucking women

- Suzie - 12-01-2003

when the dealer has a 3 4 or 5 you want to get as much money on the table as possible.

trust me I know my BJ

- Galt - 12-01-2003

Way to go. I'm trying to give him bad advice so he loses all his money. Especially since I'm giving black jack advice when he's talking about poker

And yes. You should split 9s pretty much all the time unless the dealer is showing a 7 or 10+. However, if you split 10s (no matter what the dealer is showing) you should be shot

i can't find an online gaming site that my credit card company will let take my money.

- Paper Boy - 12-02-2003

according to the ameican mensa guide of casino gambling, you should split 9's except if the dealer is showing a 7, 10 or Ace. i never split nines.

most of the sites have ways around that. the look a bit shady but it's only money.

- Galt - 12-02-2003

Look at this way. You have to assume that the down card is always a 10. and that you will always get 10s dealt to you.

He's got 7 showing; you split 9s. You have two 19s.
He's got 8 showing, you either push or double your chances against an 18
He's got 9 or 10 showing. Think he's got 19 or 20, you don't want to double your bet
He's got A showing (obviously doesn't have black jack),

gambling is the work of the devil!

- Paper Boy - 12-22-2003

i just won $1776 in an on-line poker tournament. i am so happy.

- The Jays - 12-22-2003

it would have been cooler if you won $1337

- GonzoStyle - 12-22-2003

If you won $1776 dollars on July 4th that would be like whoa.

- The Jays - 12-22-2003

if diceisgod had done it, it would have been like whoa! x 2

Was it real money or some sort of "play" money?

- Paper Boy - 12-22-2003

- Mad - 12-22-2003

Good for you, hope they don't clean out your account while they're at it.

- The Jays - 12-22-2003
