So I switched over to Verizon, got a new phone, and every single one of the rings on the phone is insanely annoying. But with Verizon, you can't key in your own rings, you can't download any from a website, you have to use their "Get it now" service.

So I, like a sucker, pay to download a couple of the services they have for downloading ringers. Each of the programs I have gives me the option to download rings out of about 150+.

Now, I ask you: why is it that my only option is to download SONGS. All I can download is cheesy midi versions of 50 Cent, Eminem, etc etc. Why don't they just have "rings" All I want is my phone to ring like a normal fucking phone. Why can I only download songs?

The other option is one of them has a section on wacky sounds. Like a person farting, a man laughing, someone making a fake phone ring with their voice, screaming, alarm clocks, all that shit.

I JUST WANT MY PHONE TO RING LIKE A NORMAL PHONE.

Stressed the fuck out.

Maybe you should give that Back Door slut a call and work off some more aggression or go light some homeless guy on fire.

- GonzoStyle - 12-28-2003

Still not as annoying as nextel customers and their fuckin chirps

- The Sleeper - 12-28-2003

I hate when my phone rings, it means I might have to talk on it

- GonzoStyle - 12-28-2003

I hate people in public places who have their ring tones set ridculously high and let it ring for a long time before they answer. They pull the surprised look like someone else has hava nagela as a ring tone, it's a phone and not a jukebox you fuckin jew.

- Goatweed - 12-28-2003

there are hacks you can do to get normal or even those cheesy ring-tones on your phone for free, but it involves buying eqipment and some computer software - it also depends on the phone.

Anyway, I use verizon also, and I have a normal ring-tone - they all do.

about 6 months ago I was at my friends place watching a boxing PPV. So there was this one kid Gino there and he had just gotten a new phone and kept on playing tunes on it and trying to guess what each one was.

I swear it was like the opening scene from resevoir dogs, this one guy joe is talking about comic books and explaining some geekish stuff. Another kid was arguing with another about the fact that puerto rico really was a state and this fuck is playing with his ring tones like lawrence tierney with the phone book "toby... toby wong? toby?"

Playing the fool as if he didn't know "in da club" by 50 cent, it was only in rotation every 5 seconds.

- Goatweed - 12-28-2003

with the new camera phone on verizon you can just send yourself a text message from email with the midi file attached and save it as a ringer

- Kid Afrika - 12-28-2003

I was gonna check out some of the cheesy ring tones when I got my new phone, but then I found out that you have to pay for them and even then they are only good for 30 or 60 days.

Anyone know anything about the Sanyo 8100 and Sprint PCS as far as cables or hacking?

- Velociti - 12-28-2003

hacking a cell phone is pathetic

- Kid Afrika - 12-28-2003

Would you care to qualify that statement further with some fact or opinion?

I mean, wouldn't it be good to make your phone do stuff that may be blocked from the end-user because it was deemed "to difficult" or "illegal" for the release version of the phone? I know that hacking my DVD player gave me the ability to disable the region setting and I can now watch DVDs from any region in both PAL and NTSC formats. Not that I could do the same with my phone, but who knows what may be possible? For one, I'd like to be able to make my own ring tones and send pictures to my phone without having to jump through hoops every time.

I have an LGVX6000.

There were 6 plain rings, but they are all incridibly annoying. I found two rings that weren't annoying, though I bet they will start to get annoying pretty quick (sound of a cordless phone, sound of an old rotary phone). Nolia had better rings; they had profiles too. You could just set the ring up as one beep; set up different profiles for if you are at work and what not.

nice find - what software do you use? I'm too lazy to read up on this.

My boss has the same phone, and he hasnt changed the ring since he got it, and it pisses us all off in the office. I decided I was gonna get him a new ring, but when I tried to figure out how to do it, it ws all fucking stupid bullshit. Why can't you just send a ringtone to a phone?
