- Tenbatsuzen - 03-24-2002 Blade 2 topped the charts with a 33 million dollar opening. Nipping at it's heels was Ice Age with 31 million. ET followed with 15, with Showtime and Resident Evil rounding out the top 5. Blade 2 got great reviews even though it's a TREMENDOUSLY hard R-rating. It also opened in 600 fewer screens than Ice Age (2700 to 3300). The other new opening this week, Sorority Boys, made a paltry 4.2 million, coming in 9th. If LOTR has a good showing at the Oscars, expect it to break 300 million by mid-week. It's teetering at 297 right now. Another interesting thing; Res Evil came in lower than Showtime, even though it opened on to last week. The dropoff was huge, although Columbia was expecting to make half to three-quarters of it's money from the domestic release, make the rest of it back on world release, and then the DVD (which features nude Milla) is gravy. - IkeaBoy - 03-24-2002 BOX OFFICE- care? - Kim - 03-24-2002 Quote:BOX OFFICE- care?
