I appreciate it also, FTL - I have the never-ending flashing light also, and I'm on RR, and while I knew it was network traffic, I never knew exactly what it was.
Another thing to use to reduce that flashing light is Ad Aware. It searches for and gives you the option of removing all of the spyware off your computer.
I absolutely love this program, and did see a dramatic drop in the amount of flickering that little light on the modem did while I wasn't doing shit online.
just a small word of caution. Users of Kazaa, Bearshare and any other P2P app that might contain spyware might have problems oppening the app if the spyware is removed (Kazaa does). Download and use Kazaalight instead, which puts a dummy file in place of the really spyware :thumbs-up:
Nah, it won't speed up your connection - whether those packets get to your computer or not, they're still coming down the pipe, clogging your bandwidth. Mainly I was bitching about how OO should start blocking that shit - BUT - the reason I said get a firewall is, if that much shit is coming straight through, not blocked by your ISP, imagine what other, possibly malicious garbage is coming through without you even knowing it....
