I can't get into Entourage. From the first couple episodes I saw, all it was was like "OMG, I have so much money. Can you believe it?"
"No, I can't! Look at all these hot women around us, it's amazing!"
"OMG, Jimmy Kimmel wants you on his show!"
"Really? OMG, I'm gonna be on Kimmel!"
"Kimmel's a real dick!"
"Oh yeah? OMG, look at that girl!"
"Hey! Can I suck you and your friends dicks?"
"OMG, I can't believe she's gonna suck all our dicks! I love being famous!"
It just seems like some huge propaganda, like not everybody can be famous, but you should try to be, because this is what you get. Perhaps it's a real behind the scenes look at Hollywood, but you watch it, and, blech, this is what every person should try to be like?
I think the fantasy of being young rich and famous strikes a chord with nearly everyone. It's not about envy, to me. It's more about the idea of seeing what it might be like.
After all, it's a television show, not a documentary or an instructional film.
But hey, maybe I just enjoy TV for its face value, ENTERTAINMENT, rather than trying to analyze the shit out of it and find some deeper meaning.
It's cheesy propaganda, aimed at making ugly and socially inept people dream of being rich and famous for doing nothing. Instead of trying to live an exiciting life, they choose to watch on demand.
