Yeah, the Red Sox are douchebags. Nice dirty play to fuck up our other first baseman, you dirty cheats! He gets you the final out in a World Series, and three years later you give him a concussion and a fractured wrist.

The fucking Sox should be investigated by Congress, they are so paying off the umpires to look the other way on certain plays, as well as key plays during the games. It is 99% proven that Theo Epstein has mob ties and has been using payroll money to buy umps.

i bet they paid off the yankees to suck royally this season as well. its all a big conspiracy to keep those scrappy boys from the bronx down. damn the man!

And Manny and Ortiz are both doing steroids. And Josh Beckett is doing amphetamines. And Papelbon is just a douchebag who gives up home runs to A-rod. Oh wait.

its all part of the collective bargaining agreement to level the playing field.

If the Red Sox blow this, it still won't be as bad as the Yankees blowing the '04 ALCS
06-05-2007, 12:02 AM
so, even if the Yankees come back, win the wild card, and then win four straight after the Sox go up 3-0 in the ALCS and move on to sweep the Mets in the World Series, that still won't top 2004?

OK, that would.
The Clemens signing was such a horrible move for the Yankees. Not only because they wasted $30 million, but now they aren't even able to punt this season and really set themselves up for future years. They have a bunch of guys that they could trade away this year and really re-stock some talent for future years. Pettite would bring in a haul, Rivera probably an even bigger haul. They could get rid of some bad contracts (Damon, Abreu). I even saw something about Arod for Matt Kemp and James Loney, which would be amazing for both teams involved. But now that they have Clemens, they really can't give up on this year. Which is fortunate for Sox fans. The Yankees have the beginnings of a solid core, and they could go on another 10 year run with a young cheap core of Wang, Cano, Hughes, Clippard, and Kemp/Loney type guys with even bigger upside guys like Chamberlain and Tabata on the horizon.

They have yet to start paying Clemens, and he's not getting 30 million, he's getting a pro-rated salary.

Signing Clemens will cost them roughly $30 million. We've gone over this already. They have to pay about a 50% luxury tax. Just because Clemens isn't getting the money, doesn't mean the Yankees aren't spending it.

I don't think The Jays honestly believes anything he's writing in this thread anymore.
