Help!!! with ms access - How do you work this fucking program????

::gasp:: This is a work-related issue..yeah, I'm being a slacker poser :p

But anyway, I have 2 different lists with editor contact information and I must pick and choose 300 out of these tables. Is there an easy way to do this besides cut & paste method? How do I pick names without fucking up the original tables? I really fucking hate this program!!!!!!

OK sweetie, for starters, go to the help screen and type in "creating a new table from data in an existing table or tables" this should lead you to a help screen...surprisingly, MS Access help screens are pretty good. The upshod is that you'll either have to do a "make-table" query to create a table, or go through the query wizard to connect the tables. Wish I could be more specific than that, but without the data you're working with...best I can do.

i hope i helped a little even though i was a little late, query is the way to go

Open a query in Design view
In the Database window, click Queries under Objects.


Click the query you want to open, and then click Design on the Database window toolbar.

If a form, report, or data access page is based on a query, you can open the query to modify its design directly from the form, report, or data access page. For more information, click .


If you previously saved a query while it was displayed in SQL view, that's the view Microsoft Access displays the next time you click Design on the Database window toolbar for that query.

The only problem is that there doesnt seem to be a rhyme or reason to which names you are choosing. Hopefully I am wrong. A query will simply return records that match a certain requirement. So all the records you want to create a new table with will need to share a common characteristic. Hope that helps.

Thanks guys!!! I think I got it. I'm working with 2 separate Access databases...the last time I ran a query, when I deleted records, it deleted them from the original table.

Can I make a query from the 2 databases? There's no specific requirement I'm looking for in choosing which "database objects" I want.

Combine the 2 databases and create one new database to run your query from.

BTW - what version of MS Access are you using? 97 or 2000?
