you might want to try reading directions, in help files and whatnot
they usually divulge slight hints on how to make the product work.... USUALLY

I try. They don't really help that much. I will admit I am an idot when it comes to this stuff. When you showed me how to do step by step on newsgroups I was able to handle it once shown. Also what was my path name for verizon online.

I really think I am officially retarded when it comes to downloading shared files Every site i go to I get more confused. I get pages not found or website not responding or I go places and I have no clue what I am doing.

If you want you can always stop by #opieanthony - I can help you if I'm there, or anyone else might (you can get there by going to http://opieanthony.net/modules.php?name=Chat_Room, or by using an irc client and using access.irc.net. Here is a tutorial for that if you haven't used mIRC (just note: you may need tou use access.irc.net instead of opieanthony.irc.net) #opieanthony irc chat tutorial Edited By PeterDragon on 1051705752

Quote:3) when you click on /start the torrent, you've got to hope that it is currently running I went into movies, clicked on identity and it started downloading. The problem is it is so slow . It says I have about 80 hours left of download time. Am I doing this right. And whackbag I went into newsbin and for Identity in alt.binaries.svcd their were 2 files and they said they were incomplete.

Quote:I went into newsbin and for Identity in alt.binaries.svcd their were 2 files and they said they were incomplete. that happens a lot - most times you can post a request in the group for the original poster to repost thoe Incomplete files, or ask anyone who might have them to repost them. I've used bit torrent too, and I also get really slow download speeds. Supposedly, the speed will increase over time but I haven't seen that happen.

Well I guess it did because only 24 hours left. Are you able to view the file before time like in kazaa. How do I view the file once it is downloaded.

whoa whoa whoa, slow down
you cant just ask question like that without being specific

Quote:Well I guess it did because only 24 hours left. Are you able to view the file before time like in kazaa. How do I view the file once it is downloaded. Yeah, it will speed up. I prefer the hacked version, which lets you choose the speed that you download /upload at. Why would you want that? well, the faster you upload, the faster you download (so as to encourage uploaders), but it can also dominate your internet speed. the hack lets you decide how much of your speed to use. As far as I know you can't watch till done. as for usenet, are you saying that there were 2 incompletes out of 50? (or whatever it is?) if so, this is the beauty of par files. if you also download the par files (files with p.01 extention, etc), they will replace any missing / incomplete file. so someone uploads 50 rar files, plus 10 par files, and any 50 of those will give you a complete download. you can go here: http://alt.binaries.nl/ to see what has been uploaded to usenet; what is on your server will depend on your ISP. different ISP's have better/worse usenet retainage.
