AM, if you were are much of a purist as you present yourself to be, you would be on the brink of giving it up... just like the rest of us.
The internet is a steaming pile of feces these days. Gone are the days of warez sites, and crack sites, and movie sites... The most you can find is a halfway decent newsgroup. But, even those are becoming few and far between. In the end, "we" lamers have ruined what was once a great little community of misdemeanor criminals. Now, I only lump myself in with the "lamers" group because I got into it at the cusp of the influx of the lamerz.
Everything on the internet that is good, will eventually be overrun by idiots who heard about it from a friend. Message boards are the easiest example for this crowd. The people that found oa.com by lurking the net were far better members than those who heard about it on the radio. The people that were invited here, initially, are far better than the friends of friends of friends that are here now. You must realize that the Internet has become so diluted at this point that everything that is worth complaining about is only in existence because of the popularity of the Internet. If shit was harder to find, people wouldn't bother. That's the only reason newsgroups are still in existence today, and haven't followed the lead of file sharing software. Anything worth having is worth working to get. If it's easy, it is trash, or soon will be.
