Fury sign QB Rickey Foggie
Six-year AFL veteran set to lead Detroit

AUBURN HILLS, MICH.- The Detroit Fury of the Arena Football League have announced today the signing of quarterback Rickey Foggie. Per AFL policy, terms of the deal remain undisclosed.
Foggie played all of last season with the Florida Bobcats of the AFL. In 14 games with the Bobcats, Foggie went 280-for-507 and 69 TDs, averaging 258.5 yards per game. Foggie threw for 3,619 yards and 15 INTs. Foggie is considered one of the most accurate and durable quarterbacks in the game.
"He is a talented athlete and a veteran quarterback with several years experience in the AFL," Head Coach Mouse Davis said. "We are excited to have him and believe that he has the ability to take us to the next level."
Foggie ranked among the league leaders last season in the following categories:

Foggie began his career in the AFL in 1996 with the Minnesota Fighting Pike. Following that season, Foggie spent the next four campaigns with New Jersey. He also played seven seasons in the CFL (1988-95), including leading the Toronto Argonauts to the 1990 Grey Cup. The former University of Minnesota Golden Gopher replaces the Fury's starting QB from last season, Scott Semptimphelter.
"This is a great opportunity for me to come into Detroit, as a veteran quarterback, with a team that had such a good season as an expansion franchise last year," said Foggie. "This organization has a great coaching staff, solid players and a great receiver in Robert Gordon. I believe that I can help this team out a lot."
Foggie ranks eighth all-time in the AFL in passes attempted with 2,234, fourth all-time in passes attempted in a season with 540 in 1999 and sixth all-time in passes completed in a career with 1,477. He also is fourth all-time in passes completed in a rookie season with 226 in 1996 and 11th all-time in most yards gained in a career with 15,461.
Foggie joins the following signed players for the upcoming Fury season: J.R. Jenkins, Carl Greenwood, Derric Coakley, Marvin Thomas, Craig Strickland, Kelvin Kinney, Robert Gordon, Chuck Levy, Torey Hunter, Earl Scott, Richard Hogans, Kevin Scott, Shawndel Tucker, Chuck Winters, Ty Grovesteen, Errick Herrin, Desmond Byrd, Mike Fletcher, Drew Miller, Bernard Williams and Harry Deligianis.
The Detroit Fury will be entering their second season in the Arena Football League in just a few weeks. Training camp kicks off on March 24 and media day is slated for March 26 at noon at the Troy Sports Center on 1819 E. Big Beaver Rd. I love him. He's like those happy old people who become known for sitting by the side of a busy street and waving to passing cars. People drive by regularly and beep just to see him and get him to wave to them.
