I HATE the theory that you can't critcize "art" whether it be music, paintings, books, or anything else.
It is a stupid, inconsistent, theory. Why art? Because someone "poured their heart and soul" into it? Tough shit. That doesn't prevent it from sucking so.
Why is art the only thing above reproach? Don't people who start companies pour their heart and soul into what they've created? But when they turn out a shitty product, it's everyone's right to say it sucks.
Shitty shoes, shitty political idea, shitty workmanship for a laborer. Everything someone does is subjective. This whole "art" thing is bullshit. You are allowed, nay, encouraged to place a value on anything created. The value varies for each person. That's the point of an opinion. But just because someone thinks that what they are doing qualifies as holy art, tough shit if they can't take criticism. And FUCK THEM if they think their shit don't stink because they are an "artist". Anyone can put pen to paper and write something. And when they do, get ready to have that creating judged and valued.
