I'm reading Mystic River by Dennis Lehane. It is quite a departure from his previous work, in that it is almost [gasp] literature. I loved his first 5 books which had recurring characters. Some people describe him as the next Robert B. Parker, which is fair, except that his books are more in depth concerning his characters. If anyone is interested in a "literary murder mystery" that really nails blue-collar boston life, pick this one up.
