I enjoyed this episode. Whether you call it a dream sequence or a near death experience, the symbolism behind it is that Tony is lingering in Purgatory right now. On one end of the city you had a large beacon of light (heaven) and on the other an out of control fire (hell) with him stuck in limbo between the two without any real identity or way to leave.
