There is a HUGE difference between drinking and driving and drunk driving. I drink and drive all the time and know very few people here that don’t. I can have 5, 6, 10, 12, 15 beers over the course of a few hours, not be drunk and be fully able to drive myself home. In fact, in most cases it makes me a better driver because it forces me to focus more on driving straight and doing the speed limit. And really those are the only 2 reasons to be pulled over in the first place. Just don’t go over the speed limit and stay between the lines and you’ll be fine. Sure, my BAC may be over .08, but that doesn’t necessarily mean I’m drunk. I think I would have a better idea of when I’m drunk than anyone else. Now, if I were to start pounding shots in addition to those 10-12 beers, then I would be drunk and thus probably unable to maintain the speed limit or stay between the lines. Besides, what do they expect me to do? Take a bus? Is that what they want? For me to take a bus? Well screw that! You take a bus!
