It's true. I'm upstate. True upstate, not fucking Albany or Utica. I mean the real north country. We are very prepared and if you live up here you own at least one four wheel drive vehicle. Not because it's trendy but because it's actually necessary.
I have a full sized regular cab Dodge Ram with a V8 Magnum just because of the winters. I drive my bride's car to work because the truck is too hard on gas but in weather like we're having now, the truck is priceless. There's always a shovel and 5, 75lb bags of sand in the back for weight and to be broke open if someone is struck and needs traction. I've also got a snowblower and a method to get it on the back of the truck for transport. On top of this, my father-in-law has a plow on his truck and my father has a four wheeler with a plow on it. And if things get real nasty, I know a farmer with a heavy machinery front end loader if we have to truck the snow out of the yard and into my father-in-laws field.
It's not over doing it. It's necessary.
