This is getting into PhD Disertationville and life's too short. I will say this though:
Bateman held a nailgun to his secretary's head at one point, so he either:
1) Understood the value of having "servants" which outweigh personal lusts and short-term pleasures.
2) He was a pussy and "feeling bad" about the prospect of killing her.
I say Lex was indeed a loon in a somewhat similar fashion as good ole' CB. However, he had self-control and the brains & will power to curb any rash and hasty decisions that might prove a future inconvenience. He wouldn't have cared if she fell off a cliff or if Cali sinks into the ocean...BUT he knew he needed bitches to do paperwork and bury dead body parts.
Afterall, it's hard to find good help these days and ALWAYS in fact.
I hope this helps.
