well, i sat at work and chain smoked from 8-12 after i got off tonight. then they took all the ashtrays away and that was that. i saw a few crowds of people outside bars on the way home. i think the biggest problem is that people all think this is a stupid law so they're gonna smoke anyway. which i'd probably think too, but, it's not the customers who'll get in trouble for smoking, mightaswell give you a run down of the fines:
1st time: 200-400 bucks, 2nd time: 500 - 1,000, 3rd time, 1-2,000. then? license revoked. bar closed, business go bye bye. people are still sitting around going, oh they're gonna fight this, it won't happen... it happened months ago when they passed the law, it's been a done deal for a while now. and it's not like they're not enforcing it, bloomberg has hired "smoking police" to go around to bars and issue fines, i heard he's paying them 25 bucks an hour. oh, and in that article he defended the law because he knows that bar and restaurant owners "secretly want their businesses to be nonsmoking" i'm still trying to figure out how he knows these secret thoughts of business owners...
