try killing everthing that starts up at boot - basically do a CTRL-ALT-DEL and kill everything but EXPLORER and SYSTRAY. Then try running it. If that doesn't work, I would guess the app got corrupted somehow, and you can either reinstall Windows or buy Norton's Systemworks and use their diskcleanup tools (which work better IMO).
