Okay, I just looked at my startup files (msconfig -> startup). There is no explorer and no systray. Here's what it has:
server
rundll32
pop3trap
webtrapnt
sentry
CMEsys
navapw32
IAMAPP
save
InkMonitor
topMoxie
Fmempro
msmsgs
weather
Adobe gamma loader.exe
Billminder
Create a card
Date Manager
Epson status monitor
Exif Launcher
Gstartup
Precision Time
Quicken Startup
Realtime Monitor
VAIO action set up
WinZip Quick Pick
I know you said to control-alt-delete, but when I do that, the only thing that comes up under applications is IB::Toic:isk Cleanup (blah blah blah). If I pick the Processes tab, I get a ton of stuff, but still no systray or explorer.
The stupid computer is only about 2 months old. :-(
