in explicit terms:
click on "start" located in the bottom left hand side of your desktop
click on my computer
(assuming that you're running XP) you have those 3 little windows on the left 1 that says "system tasks" 1 that says "other places" and finally one that says "details"
well..... you want the one that says "other places".....in that window the 1st item listed should say "my network places"
ok...here it's just like it was in the last step only the 1st little window on the left says "network tasks" and there will be 4 things listed there......you're gonna want to click the one that says "view network connections"
there you will see
<ul>internet gateway
internet connection</ul>
<ul>LAN or high-speed internet
1394 connection
local area network</ul>
i think you can take it from there....back to you rusty.
