If the goal is to become an assasin, I would take that to mean that you want to do this more than once. If the only desired outcome is fame, then I say you should go after leaders of business.
For if, all of a sudden, John Chambers, Bill Gates, Larry Ellison, Scott McNeely, Steve Case, and all the leaders of the Internet Revolution were snuffed out one-by-one, it woud be one the biggest stories in recent history.
While those people are relatively well-known people in business, they are not FAMOUS, so the security around them in their day to day lives wouldn't be very big. They go to work every day, they have families, and like everyone else you could just watch them, see their patterns, and pick them off at a distance. It would be much easier than trying to get a celebrity or politician since every time they go out in public, it's a photo-op and there will be heavy security. So while it would be very challenging, and fun to go after all the Entrepeneurs who made the economic boom of the last 15 years, your downside risk would be relatively small.
Now, the uproar would be amazing. The first one who dies, everyone will just assume its' an angry ex-employee who lost all their options. Weeks of Dateline NBC episodes will follow about the ever-growing problem of violence and hatred towards bosses come layoff time.
Then, when you get the second one, people might think that could be another terrorist plot, a group of communists trying to take over the country, or maybe just a coincidence and the first murder had a copycat. No one will have an idea, and their imagination will be running wild. That's really what creates the buzz you are going to want. The aniticipation of what/who is next, and why this is being done.
As you continued to wipe these people out, commerce in the country would stop, all business owners no matter how small would think that they are your next target, and when you finally get caught, you will be interviewed forever as to your motives.
Just think of the Unabomer. Look how famous he was for 20 years, and he just went after lowly peons. You take out the founders of these companies, and you'll be on your way.
Where to look:
Fortune 500 Richest Americans. Look for self-made people
Inc 500. These are the up and coming people You may want to keep an eye on them because in a couple years, they are the ones you'll be gunning for.
This should give you an idea. If you need any clarification, just IM me, and we can start planning. Though, wouldn't "Cold" be the middle name, since that isn't your real last name? Fuckin is really actually pretty forced.<font size=1 color=white>
